If you had to think of an idea for a game, what would it be? Any game ideas are good, remember where games got their start from...some italian guy chasing a monkey up some ramps while jumping over barrels.

Hasn't this been done a billion times? I'd say a game where your a space marine and you kill aliens on a ring shaped death star.

I'd have to make a sports game where the idea is to combine two sports games. For example, football and boxing, rugby and professional wrestling. So the idea would be to make it so that if you want to play the game the way its played in reality you can do that, or you can start a fight on the football field and it suddenly becomes a deathmatch between you and an opposing teammate.

Except that Rugby IS professional wrestling, with a ball.

And football is boxing (what with all the man-hugging) only with pads.

For the football and boxing combination it would go from how a football game might be played with a wide third person view to a close third person view on the two players. It would also involve bats with nails in them and other assorted tools for death.

A game that's all about internet memes. (You see a lion, what do you do?)
A western style JRPG.
A game about hacking.

I'd make a Real Time Strategy game in which you play as a deadly virus inside a human body. You could make new units like E. Coli and Lupus, and build structures like infections and tumors. As you move your army throughout the body, you are given bonuses from the organs you capture... like, when you control the heart, all blood-type diseases are given a movement buff.

Or some shit like that.

I like the sound of that

So? It's still a fun topic to discuss. Maybe that's why it's been done lots of times you think SargentToughie?

And no, I'm pretty sure FPS aren't going to be original anymore. There's only so many times you can go 'shoot the man/aliens till he falls downs. Har har' before it gets stale. And aliens shouldn't be in FPS AT ALL. So many of them have done that...And a game? One about ninjas. A GOOD one. Ninja Gaiden isn't enough dammit!

^ Ninja Gaiden, Shadow of the Ninja, MGS, now where's mah money? Unless you're being sarcastic, it's kind of hard to tell. :p

I would like to see a game where the main character is similar in structure to the Phantom of the Opera or, to use a more recent example, V from V For Vendetta. He is a creature of the stage first and last, possibly a legendary performer disfigured or disgraced in some horrible way long before, and who thus hides behind the mask he now considers his true face. His powers beyond athletic agility would be based around the deception of the senses- illusions of sight and sound to trick the enemy, perhaps adopting different powers depending upon the mask he chooses to wear (Comedy, Wrath & Tragedy).

But never until the absolute end would we actually see the protagonist's true visage. Hey, it worked for Samus Aran.

In the year 2071, most of the human populace of the Earth has cybernetic enhancements that give them all sorts of crazy powers such as super strength, speed, and a healing factor (think Weapon-X, but on a much larger scale). The CEO of the company that produces these enhancements activates a module that places every person with augmentations under his direct control. These cyber-zombies allow the CEO of the company to takeover the world. The player is an ex-cop, who is part of an underground resistance movement made up of people without the enhancements. You, armed with various weapons, must infiltrate the CEO's massive headquarters, assassinate him, and return the world to normal.

I've got a great video game idea.

You play the comically titled 'Joker', a member of a group of special ops in a modern war setting. Well, that's been done before you might say, but here's the catch. 'Joker' isn't the main character. Instead, he's the sidekick, the second banana. You play the comedy relief in the war game, and you're immersed in what it's like to be the guy off to the side while your fearless leader -- the stereotypical rugged bad ass commando type with a trauma filled past, a chip on his shoulder, and a codpiece full of horse meat -- mows down a wave of enemies and sends you off to do menial tasks.

Not only does this show a completely different point of view from the typical "I'm the leader, we do what I say" shtick, but it allows us all to learn what goes on inside the head of the funny man that dies near the end, and what goes on in that second hallway where the party had to split up.

Oh, and he dies near the end. Afterwards, you're treated to a cinematic in which the fearless hero goes on to defeat the bad guys, mourn your loss, and get laid.

How's that for innovation?
