Probably ball tag, although I didn't personally play much ball tag. But it's pretty fun. Dodge ball is always a valid candidate too, but slightly more harmful than tag. Tag is just good old fun.

Dawn of War: Retribution for me. To put this into perspective. I've played it more than I've played Skyrim.

I think the only game I got for 2011 was Portal 2. It wins by default.
portal 2 is a great game but you know.. skyrim is kinda open world game and i am sure skyrim has no comparison with any other game

Slightly off topic but PC Gamer had Skyrim as the best PC game of all time.... I cancelled my subscription.
Heh. It was an alright game, but most definitely not 'best PC game of all time' material. Clearly someone at PC Gamer got a rather nice bonus check this year.

Anywho...

I honestly don't think I have a definitive answer for this. My gut instinct was to say Deus Ex: Human Revolution... but the ending(s) to that game was just so... disappointing. Not sure if I really played anything I felt was better than it this year, though. I rather enjoyed Dead Space 2... but I enjoyed it in much the same way I enjoy turning my brain off for some explosion-filled summer popcorn-movies.

it depends on the taste of gaming.. you prefer.. but many gamers like me prefer to play skyrim instead of playing any other game,, skyrim is like everything. because. its not only a game.. its a life inside

Catherine. The gameplay was challenging but fun, the story was good, and the characters were memorable.

If you would buy me Skyrim, I would love to tell you my opinions of it.

But I haven't so Portal 2 still wins.

Assassin Of Kings is the hands down winner for me. The world wasnt big or wide open, and there werent a thousand different things to do, but it sacrificed those things for the tightest story I have ever seen in an RPG.
This would definitely have beaten out Retribution for me if the 2.0 update hadn't killed the game on me. I was running on minimum specs, but that particular update destroyed the graphics compression. I can't get a steady framerate, and minimum settings look awful. (Not a graphics whore argument, they literally looked like someone threw a blob of paint over the actual textures.)

As I posted in the Escapist Game Of The Year awards, my personal Games Of The Year are Portal 2, Deus Ex:Human Revolution and Batman: Arkham City. Skyrim was good, but to me, it wasn't great. And for some people (mainly PS3) it was damn near unplayable.

I'm torn between Portal 2, The Witcher 2, and Shogun 2... all sequels, go figure.

But yeah, if I absolutely had to choose one I think I'd go with The Witcher 2 just because it feels like the type of game I'll still be discussing and replaying years from now. Portal 2 was a brilliant experience but I can't see myself replaying it more than once and Shogun 2 will probably be replaced by the next full-fledged Total War game.

For me, my games of the year were Gears of War 3, the Witcher 2 and The Old Republic.

Skyrim is an alright game I'll admit, but for me, it just felt.. lifeless. Like the majority of Oblivion did (Shivering Isles was the most lively of the entire game, and it was an expansion series). Your character and the NPC's felt like they were living in entirely different universes, save the occasional "did you see those new bandits/dragons/trolls/[insert monster here] stalking about recently?" passerby-er conversation. The main quest lines didn't feel very responsive to the player or his actions either. Unless it was specifically scripted to do so, and only at that moment.

And yes, I do own the game.

Gears 3, Skyrim, Human revolution. I can't decide between the three of them.

Its funny you should mention that, I got a performance drop after installing 2.0 too.

Although that might have to do with switching from a 1400x900 monitor to a 1920x1080 monitor. Im actually not sure which of the two is causing my low frame rate in TW2, because my PC took the switch no questions asked in other resource heavy games like Bad Company 2.

Anyhow, its a pity. You could try reinstalling the game and not installing the 2.0 patch (provided you dont have the steam version, I know Steam is a ***** when it comes to stopping it from installing patches you dont want). How many play through did you get done before your performance got ruined? Just 1?

If so, its definitely worth reinstalling and working around the patch. I was surprised how radically the game changes depending on your choices. Shit was crazy. Dont think I have ever seen anything like it.
Before the patch, I managed to play up to the second half, following Roche. The part in the forest was amazingly well paced. I also enjoyed how liberal with sexuality the game was. Geralt and Triss's moment in the elven ruins was far better than anything Bioware has put out in comparison.
