I'm on a nice long holiday with my girlfriend. Enjoying it greatly. BUT because it's a long holiday there's a lot of downtime between things. We have been spending a lot of it in our hotel room. We are now both sore.

Basically I don't have any two player PC games that run on one computer and we both kinda feel like it at this very second. There aren't a lot out there in the first place, but can anyone think of any they'd recommend off the top of their heads? Preferably one available on steam because it is midnight.

I don't think there are any computer games where two people can play on one computer. There may be some flash games where you can but most comp games, like Torchlight or Battlefield, would require a second computer to play with another person.

Unless there's some software out there that I'm unaware of you'll either need a second comp or a console that supports split-screen multiplayer.

We once managed to get one of those old FPS's to run splitscreen with a keyboard/mouse and a controller. It's effort but it's good fun once you get it going. I'm getting a sense of Unreal, I think it might be Unreal Tournament. Maybe.

Turn-based games will often have a hotseat mode, but i think most other types of game will need more than one computer.

Back in the late 90's I played a lot of Worms 2 with like 5 people on one computer, made birthdays really awesome. I bet you can still do that with a new version of Worms, so go get that.

Heroes of Might and Magic 3 has local play. 4 and 5 might as well. Worms Armageddon and World Party are great, there was the awesome little platformer called Bonkheads, Ignition is a very old, but very fun racing game with split screen. That's about it off the top of my head

it's mainly older games which have hot seat.
settlers 1 (eighter 2 mouse or mouse and joystick)
cyberdogs
tyrian2000
heroes of might and magic (at least the first one)
but these are all dos games so you'll need dosbox to run them

Ya, Worms series, Heroes of Might And Magic series, Civilization. Also great fun - is to play some old-school party RPGs (like Wizardry, Might and Magic or Temple of Elemental Evil) with split controls (you create and control characters separately, which creates an illusion of tabletop RPG play). Older NFS titles had splitscreen mode.

uh.. fighting games? Probably not what you want to get the mood going after the soreness has passed though. (I can't believe you called me a ****!) Not that you'd ever say that, unless she used Akuma, then you are completely excused.

Oh yeah, Tyrian2000 is awesome, and you can get it free on GoG.com, and it will work on any modern rig and OS (well, windows at least)

Not sure about the Civ games, they might have local play

you can go for the original Serious Sam encounters
or if you want racing games, there's Blur and Split/Second

those are my recommendations off the top of my head, that aren't fighting games

Worms reloaded and Heroes of might and magic (at least up to 5) have hotseat mode. Not sure how it works, but you're also suppoesed to be able to play multiplayer Shadowgrounds on the same computer.

Also, I believe Lego Racers had such a split screen possiblity, but I also think it required joysticks.

Portal 2 if you know how to do it. I managed to play portal 2 splitscreen from my computer and it was a blast.
