I was just wondering, since I realised I have a lot of music from games on my Computer; The Orange Box, Silent Hill Series, Timesplitters and Kingdom Hearts, how my fellow Escapists feel about Game Soundtracks? Would you buy/torrent them? Any to recommend? No comment? ;D
Personally I feel that there are quite a few out there that are incredibly nice to listen to, so I get them. Simple enough view, no?

Stuff from ocremix and other game soundtracks make up most of my ipod. I always buy them as long as there is a cd or somewhere for sale online, if not I download away.

I listen to the ones that I get via buying the games a bit. I've not torrented any or bought any, but if I get one as part of the package I'll listen to it.

If I like the music enough I'll use it in a D&D game, as long as it fits

I absolutely loved the soundtrack in Starcraft II, especially that song that plays in the final cutscene. It turns a hollow and open ending into one of the most beautiful cinematics I've ever seen.

Halo has some absolute gems amongst the franchise soundtracks. Don't discount ODST either. It's beautiful. Marty O'Donnell is a god amongst men.

Other beauties are Assassin's Creed 2, and Mass Effect 1 and 2.

OSTs I don't really care for. They leave a lot of the music out. I torrent game rips though, which involves -all- the music in the game, even the tiny little intros, sometimes all the sound effects too. Which I do use. If I could buy an entire game rip, I definitely would.

If I can't find a rip for the game, I'll just play it, and try to record whatever song I want without sound effects <.<

My library consists almost entirely of game music.

I recently ripped the Half Life, Opposing Force and Blue shift soundtracks from their respective discs in the Generation collection. I also have the complete Heavy Rain, Assassins Creed and Castle Crashers soundtracks, as well as select songs from dozens of other games.

You can get the sountracks of all 3 Timesplitters games legally, for free, over at this place:

http://www.tsmusicbox.com/

Anyway, I own the Halo soundtracks. Say what you will about the games, but their soundtracks are fucking amazing.

I would also love to buy a Jet Set Radio soundtrack of some kind. And perhaps a Parappa the Rappa one.

Despite the game being extremely average, the soundtrack to Wet was pretty good. I've never actually bought a game soundtrack though.

I use a library of game and movie soundtracks for athmosphere in our Pen and Paper games. There are some great pieces out there.

the Oblivion theme song is nice, I also like the soundtrack from Dragon Age: Origins. Soundtracks help me to get into the mood of the game. I usually don't download game-soundtracks, but when the music is freaking good i'll down it for sure

I don't usually listen to game soundtracks too often... I usually just go for songs with words.. I'm not much for instrumentals... I do however go on OCremix a fair bit, and I love the Megaman music!

One day, I'm gonna make a PayPal account.
One day, I'm gonna put money on it.

And one day, I'm gonna buy the Super Meat Boy soundtrack.

Until then, I'm just gonna keep listening to it on the website :)

The Scott Pilgrim Game Soundtrack, best Anamanaguchi have done in my opinion.
If you are into more chiptune then the Bit.Trip Soundtracks are brilliant.

Now that i have a good paying job i am completely considering getting the Metroid Prime soundtrack.
The games music gets even more badass as you play.

The Megaman X series also contains some of the best music in games.
Period.
Gets me pumped every time.
