Hey everyone,

I've recently moved to more regular hours for work, which has left me with a lot more time to play video games. That being said buying a new console game two to four times a month is looking a bit pricey. I've seen a lot of ads for Gamefly and their 1 video game at a time deal (a bit over $15 a month) seems pretty decent. If I even play only 1 game a month (easily achievable), I figure I'd be saving money.

But for some reason Gamefly just turns me off. I don't know why, but the whole operation just feels sketchy.

Does anyone else use it? Do you think I should get it? If you do use it, what problems have you encountered?

Thanks!

I have been using it for two years now and it has saved me hundreds of dollars. The only complaint I have is the time it takes to turn around, but since i started that has already started to lessen. At first it was a week and a half and now its approx. four days. I live in the middle of nowhere though to gamefly's credit.

Just don't think your going to get to play the latest games the day they come out, you often have to wait a bit for the game to be less popular before it will ship. Though sometimes I get them immediately. I believe it is just a luck thing.

I used to have the 2 game package but found that between the games i bought and having two i just didn't need it so i downgraded to one game and it has been great.

One of the best side effects was that i dodged a couple bullets. Games I thought i wanted to buy i ordered from gamefly and discovered they were ass. I'm looking at you Alpha Protocol.

edit: I forgot that you can purchase used games for significantly cheaper than gamestop or other stores and they guarantee the games will work. Over time you build up rewards and they give you gift certificates for five dollars at a time to purchase the games used.

It's extremely slow to actually get stuff shipped, and I live in the same state as one of their distribution centers, other then that though it's pretty much exactly as advertised. Games work great, selection is fantastic, and it's extremely money efficient. My favorite part is that it makes it a lot "safer" to try more obscure titles or things you aren't really sure about since you aren't making a permanent commitment. If you like it, buy it, if you don't like it you didn't give a crappy game developer money, hurray. If it stops you from buying one shitty game every two months it pays for itself. I would suggest the two game plan if it's going to be your main method of gaming as otherwise there will be a lot of downtime. With two games you have something else to play while you wait for the week or two it takes to return the old game and receive a new one.
