Right I thought about this in uncharted 2, it's good game but why does Drake heal in 30 seconds after getting 12 buttles to the chest, without being superhuman or wearing some kind of power armor.
So my question is have you played a game and thought that a part of gameplay that dosen't fit into the story or setting

I think it would be much harder to find a game were this wasn't the case. It's hard to work a reasonable explanation for many components of video games into a realistic story. Though gamers are accustomed this, so we usually just accept it. Sometimes poking holes in video game logic is just being petty.

After all, when developers do try to come up with good explanations for video game logic sometimes they just create more problems. A good example of this would be the controversial Other M, as the story explanation for Samus unlocking her abilities angered and confused a lot of players. If they had just had her stumble upon the power ups she lost for some reason, you wouldn't get any serious complaints about it since that's what gamers ahve come to expect from Metroid games.

Why did I write all this I should be working on my Dwarf Fortress LP.

If gameplay mechanics had to make sense then it wouldn't be a game, it'd be a life simulator. I'm not a big fan of realistic games at all. A game should be escapist (see wut I did thar?)

Yeah, I remember I was playing Mario once, and this mushroom started sliding across the ground. Mario ran up and touched it, and all of a sudden, he grew to twice his size!

I mean, that doesn't make any sence (sic)!

On a serious note, though, I always wondered just what the hell the progression tree on Dante's Inferno was supposed to represent. In God of War, they make it kind of clear that the souls, feathers, gorgon's eyes, etc. are sacrifices to whatever deity has decided to help you that game. That grid in DI was just... weird.

Jam? sounds delicous! :D
Indeed! At first, I thought perhaps he'd licked the jam off his face, but that'd mean his tongue was huuuge...

Well, you don't really have to get it off your face. Just your cornea. Even if it's completely covering your face, as long as your cornea is uncovered it won't affect your vision at all. As for how it could get off of there, that's a good question, but the answer can probably be found <link=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eyelid>here.

I'm going to call on my education in filmmaking here and just throw in the reason why we look past the nonsensical in film, tv and videogames:

Suspension of disbelief
You're playing/watching to be entertained. You look past the lack of realism to continue following the story/continue being entertained.

Well, yes, but I'd have thought the eyelid would sweep the jam away, but it just fades...

Health regen completely breaks online play, and almost always hurts single player as well (I can live with it in single player but prefer not to). Picking up medkits that revive 50 points of health break immersion just as much as health regen; health regen makes it so there is less penalty for playing poorly. It's shows the laziness of the dev for not using an actual health mechanic; MAG is a great example of adding gameplay depth through a health mechanic.

Pulling grenades and knives out your ass in a seconds notice is straight up bullshit in modern FPSs. It's not realistic and breaks gameplay.

Well, with that much stuff right in your eye, it would probably be a combination of sweeping by the eyelid and increased lacrimation diluting it to the point where it would be less visible. Maybe this dilutional effect could explain it.

But then... why aren't there blinks on the screen... hmmmm... I need to do some more research, clearly.

But isn't that what makes it fun? It's like doing drugs but without the serious consequences on your internal organs. :D

Vehicle sections and boss fights in Gears of War 2. That tank segment is almost impossible on Hardcore mode without playing co-op and having excellent coordination. Also, bossfights in it make no sense because it's a cover-based shooter. It doesn't feel natural. (See: Raam, Skourge and the Giant Locust Sea Monster)

Oh, and I almost forgot the part were you chase Skourge on a bunch of Reapers. That was bullshit. At least killing the mutated Brumak with the Hammer of Dawn prior to that was awesome.

My feelings on this are that...you're character isn't supposed to get shot. When he does, thats the player's fault and its a buffer zone for you and the story. When Drake gets shot, its not like the creators intended for that to happen, its more or less YOUR fault.

So I just think of it as more along the lines of, like I said, a buffer zone for you to get your ass in gear and stop getting shot so the story can continue.

What I've always wondered is how Link can carry all that stuff (especially boots that seem to weigh a ton but only when you're wearing them) around. Also the way that he just reaches for an item behind his back even though there's no pouch or anything..

I'm just going to go ahead and say it was magic.
