Playing L4D yesterday, Versus online, when I came across a team of opponents who had all just gone out and bought the game (they were terrible, and then admitted the recent purchase). While my fellow survivors and I were running through the level, we were accosted twice by a hunter, who instead of pouncing on us, ran up and started melee-ing us. Being generally good natured, and wanting a bit more of a challenge...:
Me: Why are you melee-ing? You know if you crouch you can pounce us?
Hunter: WTF STFU fuckin n00b wtf that d0snt even make ny sense pouncing

I then succumbed to a rage quit. My question is WTF is wrong with some gamers if they can't even accept a little help here and there?

The noob is a shy and insecure creature, if it believes its ego is under attack, it will attack violently at the believed attacker to try and show their imaginary authority.

The internet and all of its properties are always populated, to varying degrees, with douchebags. You will never not meet a douche no matter where you go.

What's wrong with these people? No one knows. Blame their parents.

I would have stayed in the game and slaughtered them.
The group I play L4D with online (Great, nice group of guys) will totally help people if they have questions and such, but if you're going to be an idiot, then just prepare to be the infected a lot since you'll have no time as the survivors.
And we're not even super good, we just work together really well.

hmmm many peoples ego can be easily fractured (my brother for example will refuse to be shown up by me and always have an excuse) and some people blame others for there own lack of skill to hide it (for example saying you cheated, oh when i get my better equipment on i can kick your ass, my main file is sooo much better, im not playing at full potential etc.) sorry long list i generaly am annoyed by them and ignore them to prevent arguement but then there are those that have to hear or say you suck for ignoring people will always be like that oh well

This is the type of attitude you will commonly see in any competitive game.

It's just the way some people are, some have gamer etiquette some don't.

Personally whenever I see people saying GG and NS it makes me glad there is something other than whining and trash talking online.

Gamer etiquette is for gamers. N00bs can't be considered gamers, so why bother helping them at all? They are beyond help, most of them...

You meet those type of people online. Just assert your superiority over their n00b asses by wiping the floor with them. They will either learn their place or will surpass you in skill.

I think that most noobs behavior patterns are a direct result of bad or absent discipline by parents. and kids now have horrible role models that empower kids to do some of the stupidest things and have created an attitude of I know it all. they just don't know how to accept help because they don't have any role model that has ever accepted help.

I'm somewhat tolerant of new players because I admit that they don't have much experience. It's when they BRAG about said non-existent experience that annoys me.

Any1 plays public games of DotA?

I can't count how many times i've been yelled at by some noob because:

A) He died, and i wasn't there to save his ass.

B) he died, becasue i was on the other team and killed him, which clearly makes me a retarded looser noob

C) I die, and someone with way worse stats, lvl and items automaticly assumes that i've fed the other team.

In case of B i make it a duty to kill them as much as possible, till they cry and leave. The new -switch command makes leavers non-terminal to the game.

In the words of the TF2 sniper: " Be polite, be efficient, have a plan to kill everyone you meet."

Good grief... By the sound of it, the hunter mentioned in the OP hadn't even played a Campaign before...

Fortunately, I've met a share of decent people on L4D - one team of experts I was up against had something along the lines of the following short conversation at the end of a round...

(A): Haha, owned!
(B): Now, now, (A), these opponents are decent people. No need for that.
(A): You're right - Sorry!

Still, there have to be some idiots to meet as well - for instance, in another match up against the same team, having one player decide to charge off ahead regardless (into the arms of a Witch at one point) and then blame us for not being able to save him. If he'd stayed one more round after the Witch incident, I swear I'd have been fighting the Infected around him merely in order to get the kill personally.
