Hello everyone,

I don't post in these forums, although I come to this website very often. This time I need to post.

I am doing my BA in psychology, and I have a paper to write in which I have to interview two teenagers who identify themselves as gamers (the topic is adolescents in subcultures, and I chose gamer subculture, being the one I am the most personally familiar with)

So I am going to post here a few questions, and if any are you are from the ages of 14-18, consider yourselves gamers and don't mind taking a few minutes to help me out, that would be great. You can either post your answers here or send me a message, but I will ask that if you answer the questions, please answer all of them and as elaborate as possible.

Oh, and this paper will not be published. It is just a seminar task, not a thesis.

The questions are:
1. Name? (if you want to remain anonymous, that's fine)
2. Age? (has to be 14-18)
3. Where are you from?
4. What are some of your favorite video games and games types (RPG, shooters, single or multiplayer, etc.)
5. What do you think makes you a gamer, in terms of characteristics? Would you call yourself an average gamer? Would you call gamers average people? Why or why not?
6. Do you find it weird that people who play video games tend to call themselves ?gamers? while people who absorb other media do not call themselves ?bookers? or ?filmers??
7. Do you have a specific way of dressing? If yes, why do you choose to dress in such a way?
8. What is your preference in terms of music, movies, books or other media in general?
9. Do you hang out with other gamers? If yes, do you prefer doing so on the internet or in "real life"?
10. Do you think gamers have certain personality traits? If yes, what are they?
11. What is your world view / philosophy?
12. There are many people who say that video games make people aggressive and violent. Do you agree with that? Why or why not?
13. Do you think the gaming subculture has a bad reputation? Why or why not?
14. Do you think that the fact that gamers tend to spend a lot of time on the internet is a problem? Why or why not?
15. Do you think internet usage is a core aspect of being a gamer? How do you think the internet affects the gaming subculture?

Thanks in advance to all of you :)

Just an FYI, in the United States you cannot use private information from a child (name, age, etc.) without guardian consent. Most schools would emphasize research ethics. Either way good luck on your project, I am unfortunately outside your desired age range.
