If anyone is going to Gamercon in any of the other places, let it be known that they over booked the Dublin convention center both days by roughly 3000 - 5000 people (25K over two days, capacity reports range from 7000 - 9000). Ques left standing in the rain as the adopted a "one out, one in" Policy. Some people left standing for 5 hours. Refunds offered as they told people to go home. Some people traveled long distances with families and kids, wasting travel costs and other expenses. watch out guys. These guys should be shamed and prevented from doing this again.

I actually made a thread about this in gaming discussion

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.948222-Gamercon-Dublin-or-How-not-to-organise-a-convention

I didn't know the same company were organising cons in other cities though. My friend went to the Dublin one and said it was a shambles

London, Berlin, and Madrid (so the web site says).

Wow, sounds like a nightmare. Cons can be magical, making it feel as though you entered a geeky form of heaven. I sure hope these people are made an example of and are taught a lesson.

500 hours of community service teaching people who have never touched a video game to play Call of Duty multiplayer sounds appropriate.

Heh, I'd have fun with that, I like teaching people. Though it being CoD I guess would make it into a punishment.

Good God! Have some mercy. We're trying to punish them, not kill them.

Haha, this is hillarious as I have some experience with exactly that. Its brilliant because even if you can manage to get the person who has never played any game before to understand the concept of (left joystick walks, right joystick looks) and they manage to figure out how to navigate with it and not just go in circles and run into shit, trying to teach them the other buttons and basic tactics while some player keeps running up and knifing them or getting shot from afar. Now imagine them keep dying while they can't figure out the double joysticks.

Why stop there? Have them teach Dota 2/Leauge of Legends.

It's the twinstick shooter part :p

The process of using a controller is such a given that moving around and doing things in game with one doesn't require any thought for most gamers. Introducing someone who hasn't touched one before to a controller for a fast-paced game that requires twitch adjustments is one of the most frustrating things on earth lol
