Gamers in the real world

Something bizarre happened to me a few months back. I was walking to a lecture, having played Mercenaries 2 intensively for a couple of days previous. Suddenly, a police helicopter flew low over my head and my immediate thought was "GRAPPLE HELICOPTER". It was so weird - I could practically see the button prompt.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this - where your gaming mindset almost takes over real life?

Happens to me sometimes. I play Halo a lot and i sometimes tend to walk and think like an Elite.

Sometimes while wandering around, I imagine my character in Skate grinding a curb or a railing. Since I don't skate in real life, this counts as gaming.

My friend always comments on how he thinks of things in terms of Assassin's Creed. I actually made him a "WWAD? (What Would Altair Do?)" bumper sticker just for that reason.

Myself ... I always hear a voice from Team Fortress 2 when something amusing happens. Like when this kid got hit in the head with a soccer ball at a game I was watching, I heard: "Take it like a man, shorty!"

Wow I thought I was alone in doing that.

I recently had a dream in which I was playing GTA4 and then I woke up, in the middle of the night and started fumbling around to turn off the computer which had been turned off just before I went to bed.

Yes, that happens to me a lot. I play a lot of Left 4 Dead and once I heard my sister crying, I turned the light off in my room as i was next to it and then thought 'There's a witch around here!' ... I know, kind of stupid, but meh.

Taking an idea from xkcd, I put on the Katamari Damacy while out driving, and I suddenly noticed how I could probably absorb all those people into my 2-ton steel katamari.

That happens alot..i always feel the best way to approach a situation from a spy and sniper view point, both simultaneously.

Makes doing whatever i was doing at the time impossible.

do you do that when getting something out the fridge?

doing things for you must take an hour extra than any normal person, do you crawl through the vents of your office building to reach your office or work space? or zip line from a parallel building through your office window?, because that would be pretty damn sweet

i once entered VATS mode, it was damn cool

I once provoked a fight with a master in mixed martial arts at my local cafe. I baited him into attacking me, then I went into VATS and beat the crap out of him.

I awoke several minutes later on my back on the floor, staring at the ceiling. I guess my VATS system overloaded or something, I can't really remember.

My friends and I tend to walk single file when traveling long distances. In fact, we tend to always be in a marching order very similar to the archtypes of video game RPG characters we like to play (tank up front, mage in back, etc etc...)

I said feel, if i did i would be a mass murdering invisible man by now.

I do always see the fastest way to reach a point, where i would get the best vantage point, nearest the wall, other random stuff. I think about constantly but don't do, its kind of a shock when some random friend comes from behind and says "HELLO" while your thinking.

i think the most important thing to ask is, Why havn't you done that by now? that would be bad ass, Kongol: Mass Mudering Super Spy, you would get all the ladies

i play out battles in my head by imagining Tanks and ifnatry battling it out over the irish country side i see rushing past me in the car, crazy i know
