Have you ever played a game that critics said were bad or just plain terrible that you still enjoyed anyway?

I really enjoyed and still enjoy Driv3r. The thing is, I discovered how to play it so it's fun. My dad and I take turns playing the "quick escape" and "survival" and we have a great time! Survival is just so crazy, it's like the ending to the Blues Brothers!

Darkest of Days, i dont know why, but i had a lot of fun with that game, it was a pretty cool idea too, and i feel like it only got bad reviews cause it was so low budget

Alice: madness returns.

That game has been hacked by critics but I really don't give a damn, the platforming was refreshing, the world fascinating and the combat really well designed and fun.

I've never played the first though, so I'm not some McGee fan defending everything he makes. I can still criticize it, like how the plot doesn't seem to go anywhere for most of the game. It really boils down to her just looking for some famous character and that's it. But it picked up towards the end and had a really powerful ending.

So yeah, loved it.

Alpha Protocol was really underrated. Critics wrote it off as buggy, derivative, and dumb. I still think it's a super fun game; the dialog system actually works very well, the characters are memorable and endearing, the gameplay, while easily broken and somewhat unchallenging due to idiot enemy AI, is still entertaining. Shame that it got stuck with illogically damning scores in the 70's and Sega isn't interested in a sequel. And it's really not as buggy as people say.

Enter the Matrix.

Come on, turning on infinite health and battling infinite Agent Smiths for hours on end was awesome

PC Gamer gave it a pretty good rating.

I was rather frightened of the original American McGee's Alice (I was really young), especially the Chesire Cat on the box art (I hate things that smile creepily, oh dear God.) and the pause menu screen.

A relative bought it and I avoided going near her while she was playing it. Nowadays, it's not frightening at all. Amazing how things change ...

I remember enjoying Driv3r mostly because it's so terrible. I have some hilarious replays saved on my PS2 memory card of some of the most ridiculous glitches ever seen in a free-roam game.

But beyond the "So bad that it's good" factor, I found Driver 3 to have fantastic driving, some creative mission design, good graphics, and regardless of attempting to shamelessly copy some aspects of GTA, did admittedly come up with some features that I wish the GTA games had started using earlier (Example: Mid-mission checkpoints). Too bad that every other aspect of it was so endlessly bad.

Better then Mass effect in my books as it is more of a RPG and it dialogue system is the best ever

OH MY GOD FINALLY! I don't know how it happened, but I rented it and was playing it a few weeks before I heard the review on it and I really had fun with the game! Everyone said it was terrible but I thought it was really fun! D:
I'm glad someone else liked it and thought people were a little too harsh.

I agree. I mean the game was buggy, derivative and dumb, but it still managed to be pretty damn fun. I only wish stealth was a valid option in boss fights, since that pretty much ruined my first character...

*Edit* Wow, 2 other people just said almost the same thing at the exact same time. How strange...

Duke Nukem Forever.

Oh I'm not against anyone finding it terrible, but dammit I had fun with the game and I enjoyed most of its humor. (not the parodies though)

Bioshock 2, I loved running around drilling splicers and using the electrocute plasmid as a flamethrower :D The ending, especially the sad neutral ending, was very touching, and I found the plot to be interesting. Honestly, while I agree the first was better, I didn't thing it was by that much *shrug*

Also, not to mention the big sisters were awesomely terrifying

This too.

Even more shocking, I love the multiplayer, the one part of the game that was almost unanimously slammed by critics.

A few people paid enough attention to get the point, but quite a few critics thought it was too weird.

For me: Alpha Protocol. Even reviewers whose opinion I respect bashed the game (Jim Sterling, for example). But I found the game to be really good. There were sore spots (the minigames and the actual fighting of the bosses. The bosses could be entertaining, but their execution in gameplay was poorly handled).

I love it too, but no critic whose review I read called it a bad game. They didn't call it a great game either, though they definitely said there were great parts.

I found Alpha Protocol to be too limited. However, it was a step in the right direction for most RPGs.

Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2. This may have been part of the fact that I was high off Gundam at the time and wetting my little weeaboo pants with sheer excitement to fight with so many MSs.

I thought the multiplayer was great fun, I played it for hours. Didn't understand the hate at all.
