My team has recently released a game as part of my Games and Interactive Entertainment course at Queensland University of Technology. There's about 30-40 teams who have just released games here, and I'm curious what other games have emerged from other courses around the world!

>tl;dr If you're a student and have released a game at some point, tell us where you attend(ed), and what sort of games resulted from your course! (Link me! I have a few days to play through ALL the games! :p)

Are any universities focusing on larger projects? App development perhaps? In Australia, app development seems to be the current focus thanks to pretty much every big studio closing in the last few years.

In my course, it's a requirement that games are released through IndieDB. The overall quality of games has been pretty good I think, considering the small teams and general inexperience over the semester long development period. I've play-tested a whole heap of them along the way, and there's definitely some standouts that come to mind! Crank for example, is number 11 on IndieDB today! Robot Misfits, Inertial Bash and Leo IlluminArty are my other favorites. I'll get them to post their stuff here shortly :)

The game my team developed is an addictive, cute, and fun game called Tiki Toki Toy Machine, and if you're interested it's totally free on the Google Play store :) EDIT: I asked for links, and didn't post one myself: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.morganKennedyTesting.TikiTokiToyMachine

Inertial Bash, as previously mentioned, has been developed by Team Visidious as part of the final year project.

An arcade-style hack-and-slash action game, Inertial Bash features a momentum based attack system with an innovative use of the mouse, customisable weapon builds and an environment littered with destructive possibilities to destroy your foes.

In an industrial steampunk world, engineer Amos Rogerson makes a disquieting discovery. Robots being built by his factory have become self-aware and begun to attack every human they come across. Using various parts found around the factory Amos must battle his way through the hordes to prevent them from escaping and running rampant across the world.

The game is available for download from www.visidious.com

Enjoy!

Myself and 4 others in our final year at University have created the game 'Crank' as our final assessment at QUT.

Magerium, a land where magic meets technology, is now under the control of a dreadful magi known as the Arena Master. You, the arcane master of your chosen element, are forced to fight against your kind. Fry your enemies with your flames! Crush them with pressurised water! Impale them with branches as strong as steel! With superhuman reflexes and fearlessness can you survive the carnage?

Take on the role of powerful little wizards as they battle each other for the entertainment of the Arena Master in this 2.5D Team vs. Team deathmatch!

It is currently in the top 20 on IndieDB which we're super excited about. Any feedback is completely welcome. We hope you enjoy playing it as much as we enjoyed making it :)

Download it here at: http://www.indiedb.com/games/crank

We've also just put it up on Steam Greenlight:

Take a look and vote for it if you like it!

Oh Steam Greenlight as well?! :D

How is the feedback on that? Do they give you many stats for tracking the number of votes?

Our game, from The B Team Studios, is called Time Slash: Clash of Eras.

It's a puzzle platformer about a samurai and ninja who are kidnapped from Fuedal Japan to solve the on-going arguments between a bunch of bored scientists with nothing better to do than use their time machine.

When the two arrive in the present time, the scientists anticipate chaos and conflict but instead, our two fighters decide to work together, begrudgingly, to escape the madness of this foreign land they've ended up in.

You play as both the samurai and the ninja, utlising our unique character swap mechanic to navigate the characters through the puzzles. Strategic moves and quick thinking will see you make it through to the end, but you have to use each character's strengths to escape!

You can download it at our website, or take a look at the team or development process at www.thebteamstudios.com

Also we have a Facebook page, Twitter and we're also on IndieDB (www.indiedb.com.games/time-slash-clash-of-eras/downloads)!

QUT huh? I guess if I had stayed there (stupid conscription...) I would have been releasing a game right about now as well, or at least working on one.

Say, were we in the same class last year? That would be trippy! Though unlikely...
