Games/Movies you looked forward to, but were let down by.

Well the title says it all, this is probably a topic done far too much, but I dont spend my days rumaging through forums to find them.

Since i dont really see movies nowadays (i dont watch TV either cause almost all of it is s**te) 2 games that I was let down by in a huge way, were Metal Gear Solid 4 - Killing all the stealth and such killed the game for me) and Red Alert 3 - Play it and see. Its just bad.

Hmm... I would say Fable 2, it's a good game and i still play it but i got so excited over it and when i played it, it wasn't as great as i was expecting.

I'd agree with that, I only played the origonal Fable just before i got 2, I expected more but it was more or less just a slightly polished version, still had fun though.

Fable 2. Not enough spells. Other than that, I have never really been let down by a game. Probably because I play demos...

Psychonauts. I spend years hearing about how brilliant this game is, and how I've got to play it... And when I finally do, I find a marginally entertaining platformer with bits of absolutely brilliant writing peppered here and there to keep me playing.

The way it's talked about, I was expecting nothing less than an experience to rival my first time playing Super Mario 64. I was severely disappointed. Don't get me wrong, I don't think it's a bad game. The writing is smart and funny, and the gameplay itself isn't too bad. It's just not the masterpiece it's made out to be, in my opinion.

Mercinaries 2. I found the first Mercinaries game good, but the new one took the silliness that was present in appropriate tones (i.e., with the collectables, out of ammo quotes and the Russian Mafia) and blew it up to painful amounts (i.e., a reccuring theme in Mercs 2 is that the PC was shot in the posterior by one of Solano's men, PCs have to deliver 'snappy' one-liners everytime something good, bad, or indifferent happens, the Pirates). The original's game atmosphere seemed appropriate, with a dark and gritty play area to highlight the plot regarding North Korea's theft of nuclear weapons. The sequel's plot is a standard revenge plot, and it is bright and colorful, that in addition to the previously mentioned 'too silly' point makes me take very less seriously. However, in its favor, if you do see it to the end, then the nuclear bunker buster is a good way to blow of stress, promting innevitable quotes of 'phwoar' whenever it is used. But, back against it, any game where you have to make a tactical nuclear warhead a player's main weapon to make them have fun, needs improvement.

I was very excited about Grindhouse because I'm a fan of Tarantino's stuff, but Death Proof was so bad that I wanted to walk out. The only redeeming quality of that mess was the excellent set of previews.

Sonic 06. Since I bought it shortly after playing Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 it was something like being hit in the face with a baseball bat that has a rather copious number of spikes attached...and is on fire...and is covered in Atroquinine. (Do you know game thats from?)

Just remembered the last movie i looked forward to and thought was crap. Equilibriam (its old but i didnt see it till nto long ago, and i just didnt get into it)
Also as a sidenote I'd add CoD:WaW but i really didnt expect that to be good... >.>
