Howdy, Flux here with a question for all of ya (Also my first thread, be gentle...), Has there ever been a time where either a loss of power or Internet has caused you Undue grief? If so I would love to hear such stories, for as well all know Misery loves company.

Myself I have had 2 such cases, the first was way back in the days of the N64, my stepbrother was playing Ogre Battle 64, and I was sitting and watching/being a living walkthough. he decided to use and item called "Goblet of Destiny". The effect of this would either raise or lower a unit's luck. he used it and it stated "Luck down" and at that very instant-We lost power. We simply sat there, stunned for a moment.

The second case was a few years later when I was playing Tales of Vesperia, I was in the midst of a rather difficult boss battle that I had lost about 4 times previously, and as I managed to eek out a victory, my house lost power. Needless to say I was Furious.

I've never lost power or internet in the middle of playing a game, but there have been quite a few times where a loss of power or internet has prevented me from being able to play a game at all.

Playing a game of Heroes of Newerth on my laptop when the power suddenly cuts.

First thought: Oh god! What's happened?!

Second thought: Okay no worries, my laptop should have enough battery to finish the game.

Third thought: Wait, my modem doesn't run on batteries... *facepalm*

Many a time has my net decided to die on me, but one of the most notable examples would be this.

Imagine playing a game of Dota 2. You are on the Dire side and you choose Juggernaut. Your trusty mate, who is twice the better player than you could ever be, decides to support you and picks Crystal Maiden.

Imagine going on the safe lane jungle, ready to focus on a squishy foe as long as they appear. On this case, a lone Pugna, obliviously auto-attacking your minions and pushing the lane.

Imagine going on him from behind, your friend freezing him in place and you running to him, ready to cast your bladestorm and reap the rewards of first blood!

Only, nothing happens when you try to activate it. You notice that not only you, but everyone else, stop moving around casting spells and killing each other. Suddenly, you see a message in small red letters on the top right of your screen, notifying you that your connection to the game has been lost.

That is what has happened to me more than a good deal of times. I've changed my net providers, changed my line, changed my modem, yet the curse of internet death at the most crucial of moments has not been remendied.

I can't remember much so here's a fuzzy recount.

A few family friends had come over for dinner, after the meal we just hung around, watched tv when suddenly the power went out. At first we thought we had blown a fuse or ticked off the machine but we later found out that the whole are lost power, we ended up lighting candles and playing card games and hide and seek (much more fun in the dark) until the power came back on.

twas a good day.

well.. i learned to never get internet tv and phone in one bundle last week.
my router died so yes..no tv and internet hadn't occured to me that it would take the phone out too untill i tried to call my provider to sort it out....

so yea..had to call them with my cellphone wich cost me a fortune (twice)and then still had to wait a week for them to send out the fix it man to make sure everything works (apparently just sending me a new router isnt an option even though we already worked out thats all i needed.. but whatever)

didnt realize just how much i use the net till it dissapeared on me tho (turns out google it is a reflex now and not being able to really puts a spanner in all works) also i do my banking and fill out my time sheets for work and such online.

so yes the week has been a learning experiance and changes need to be made .. not getting stuck like that again.

Lost power a few times back in the FFXI days... and back then, even if a power outage occurred, you were forever judged as being someone who ditched a levelling group. Those things basically required you to be there for hours on end with no interruptions or your whole online reputation was ruined. God, people were harsh in that game.
