I used to be scared shitless by the old SNES game Zombies Ate My Neighbors. I don't know why, I know it was supposed to be fun and campy and a parody of old horror b-movies, but it scared me. I recently played it and wondered why it scared me. Do any of my fellow Escapists have any games that made you feel this way?

Fallout 3. Between the Gary vault and the Dunwich Building, I was genuinely afraid.

And don't even get me started about the Deathclaw Sanctuary.

I used to watch my father playing Nightmare Creatures II on the Playstation.
I never got near the thing, but I recall sprinting from the room after the game over screen.
Verify whether it was intended to be scary or not as you will.

Another one is Chicken Run for the Playstation. That dog growling used to freak me the hell out.

I once played Gran Turismo on mescaline and was really scared of what would happen if I were to crash, because the couch had no seatbelts.

This also. I am also scared wandering around Point Lookout for some reason.

Mario 2 is pretty creepy.

You could jump into pots and get attacked by floating masks, there were bosses like a pink guy shooting eggs from his mouth and badly drawn rats with bombs. And what the hell was with that creepy hawks mouth that you walk into at the end of every level? D:

Oblivion when I went into my first cave. The dark surroundings and creepy music still puts me on edge sometimes.

I know why you were scared, furburt. It's because crash has a mouth half the size of his torso. and no neck. It's like his whole body leading up to that enormous mouth is just one big throat and he could lean over and swallow a kid whole.

Yeah, this happens to me too. It doesnt help that the creatures sound freaky as well.

It's weird because it was a re-skinned version of a Japanise game. It still didn't stop the popularity surge of the transvestite known as birdo.

In legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, the zombies that came out on Hyrule Field at night scared me when I watched my brother play when I was five.

Oblivion and Fallout 3, though I believe those games were meant to be terrifying in certain segments. How else can you explain the Caverns of the Abused, or the Dunwich Building?

I must admit that some of the glitch Pokémon [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIp497fo0sA] in Red/Blue/Yellow freak me out, though I've only met []'M[][] and Missingno. in normal gameplay.

Had I been drinking anything, there would be a torrent of it pouring out my nose from how hard I am laughing right now at the image of someone stoned and scared shitless of their own couch.

Gaaaaaryy!! That game had some seriously messed up parts.

Dragon Age: Origins scared me at times. Mostly it was the spiders ambushing you because it would be silent and then "HISSS!" and five spiders would drop from the ceiling. I could always tell that it was going to happen, just not when.

Not so much the "Gary Vault" for me, but that vault with the violin had a terrifying backstory, if you looked for it. Freaked me out something fierce.

The first of the final level of Metal Gear Soild 2 why you may ask. Well not only are you forced to play as raiden naked but also the first time I got a codec message on board and the conrnel broke the fourth wall and told you to turn off the game consel it really freaked me out. Of course it also didn't help that you kept getting weird noness messages but durring some of them The cornel would appear as a skelton.
