Well, I got Mortal Kombat for my PS3 yesterday, for my 16th birthday party. The game is like a big box of nostalgia, from when I used to play MKT on my PS, as a wee tyke.

My friends and I spent ages playing it, and I used practically every character to the point where I know all of their decent combos and special moves.

This morning, after the party had finished, and everyone had gone home, I decided to delve into the game's story mode.

[HEADING=1]Big mistake.[/HEADING]

Shao. Fucking. Kahn. And his motherfucking spam-hammer of doom.

I'd heard stories. Some of them right here, on The Escapist, but there I was, thinking "Oh, he can't be that bad...", after all, I've been playing fighting games since I was like 5. I have MvC3, SSFIV, and Blazblue: CS, and I'm reasonably good at them. Not only that, but I like hard games. I play every game I get, on the highest accessible difficulty immediately. For fuck sake, I've beaten Ninja Gaiden Black on the highest difficulty. So, I'd gotten to grips with MK, so that I'd very rarely get beaten, but this bastard takes the biscuit. You get close to him, he whacks you with the hammer. You distance yourself from him, and he either impales you with those spears of his, or throws the spam-hammer at you, WHICH IS UNBLOCKABLE, I MIGHT ADD. The twat taunts you at every given opportunity, and, to top it off, he suffers NO knockback when he's in the animation of ANY!! ANY of his moves

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

[sub]He makes me want to cry...[/sub]

So, for discussion value, what games, bosses, levels whatever, make you suffer a nervous breakdown, at how unbelievably hard/cheap/ridiculously broken/all of the above they are.

Edit: I should mention, that the moment I got my hands on the game, I went straight into a ladder with Scorpion on Expert difficulty, and kicked his arse. I'd been playing the demo and knew good ol' Scorp like the back of my hand, yet, I'm fighting him as Liu Kang, with MUCH more practice, and he's kicking my arse like a ************... How? HOW!?

EditEdit: I beat the bastard!! And he's still alive... Which is making me believe that I'm going to have to fight him again later... Ah well, on with Kabal's chapter...

EditEditEdit: Okay, I was right. I had to fight the fucker again, and it WAS more difficult... But hey, at least I beat the story mode?

Shao Khan...Story mode I have no idea, I got to that final battle and quit. Never beat him, however in normal arcade mode Smoke/Noob and teleport move = win..

On topic though...Right now the games that make me rage are Demon's Souls and Archenemy mode in MTG 2012. Freaking cheating arse AI in Archenemy.

Well, I play a lot of RPGs and really the part I hate most is the one where you know you arent powerful enough to fight the next boss but you do it anyway because you just want to get it over with, and then you die, and have to grind until you can beat it, and start the cycle over again... Also, Bosses that are nearly impossible to beat no matter how powerful you are, and in Sonic and the secret rings, when all the levels youve unlocked are complete except for one that you can't beat and thats the only way to unlock more levels...

Like this?

Personally, I don't get upset over games. It is not worth it.

Mortal Kombat Unchained. I can get flawless victory with Scorpion by spamming buttons, but Noob/Smoke is the cheapest character EVER!!! He spams teleport, which is impossible to avoid as far as I know, and it took me 3 tries, and that's only because I got two lucky insta-kills. Usually, I have to use Noob/Smoke myself and spam teleport to get past him.

I Wanna See You Suffer, the game created from insane amounts of hate after people begged the developer to try I Wanna Be The Guy (for some reason, I don't know).

Tiny Wings for iOS, the maps change everyday and sometimes very dramatically. Basically you make one mistake at all and it messes up your entire game...reset...woop woop, that game makes me go insane

I also get all jacked up playing Mario Kart (doesn't matter what version)

The fucking Apprentice in Soul Calibur IV, especially when you are using Yoda. I eventually won by using grabs and throws. Cheap, I know, but it took me about 20 tries. He pissed me off big time. But now the fucker is mine to do with as I please. I played a round using him and just stood there dying, just to shove it up his smug little bald head.

ANYWAY....

FFX always pissed me off too, chiefly when you are trying to obtain the complete ultimate weapons for everyone. Auron's and Yuna's were incredibly easy, which is good because I used them all the time anyway. Rikku's was even easier, but stupid because she was a waste of my time (until I went to get Anima). Tidus's stupid chocobo race pisses me off every time, though, and I never did get his weapon. Lulu can suck it, because she sucks anyway and no way in hell am I going to spend 10 hours dodging lighting bolts to get a damn doll.

I never saw Starcraft II being anything more than what was promised. I don't see what great potential you speak of. Ever since the beginning we all knew it was a reworked Starcraft I with way better graphics and less balancing issues.

I actually got all the ultimate weapons, Lulu's was the last and was a bit of a pain in the arse. Didn't take me 10 hours though.

Off the top of my head the game I remember which nearly had me smashing my ps2 and crying was the trials you get after finishing God of War. 10 trials which you have to do in 1 sitting, no saves and each bloody hard. The last one involving an elevator had me fuming. I swear the whole of Demon's Souls, Godhand etc was easier than those trials.

No game gets me angry ever anymore. I usually just say whatever, or they must play too much. That is when i am losing at any game im playing. BUT, the only game that makes me throw rage fits is Tekken 6. I dunno why, probably the competitive nature the game has, but when i lose to in a tight game i get pissed bit by bit. Till i end up punching something.

Mount and Blade: Warband. Being killed out of nowhere in the multiplayer (usually after having been running back to the battle for a minute or so) often sends me into an uncharacteristic fit of rage, to such an extent that I have to physically stop myself from destroying something. I then usually acknowledge that my death was justified, laugh it off, and then get back to being rubbish.

COD when I die by absolute bullshit reasons and events. And because its COD, that happens A LOT. Also, when I'm playing an S&D game and the attacker with the bomb camps the ENTIRE game, even when there is only 20 seconds left to plant, he's still there camping trying to quick scope people.

Assassins Creed Brotherhood when all anyone is doing is running along the roofs.

FIFA 11 whenever I lose in manager mode due to the bullshitty AI doing cheap shots and my keeper generally being an ass.

When you have to do that tight-rope like walk on L.A Noire is a recent example of annoyance, I just don't get how you balance it.

The Chinese Spec Forces on Red River as in close areas that literally just sprint around a corner and shoot you in the face instantly.

That's the few examples I can think of at the moment.

Warcraft III: 4v4 matchups and one of your teammates is afk, or he teamkills and your score gets marked down.

Donkey Kong Country Wii: Absurb spikes in difficulty = dying 70 times infront of friends.

Guild Wars: ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING. WHO PLAYS THIS GAME FOR FUN.
