for me, there are two that stand apart from the crowd in this respect.

1) Mirror's Edge. Incredibly interesting gameplay concept, really cool visual design, one of the stronger female leads in gaming, IMHO. And yet it had a pretty terrible plot and the campaign was surprisingly linear for a parkour game. I know DICE has been saying that they want to make a sequel and EA has been waffling on it a bit, but I definitely feel that this game deserves a second chance, one where the developers can learn from the mistakes of the first game and turn out what would likely be a really cool product. (oh and it had a pretty damn awesome soundtrack too)

2) Jade Empire. It was an excellent RPG with some of the better action-game-style combat i've seen in the genre. I'd love to see this IP taken places. Bioware, as soon as you're done with the whole Mass Effect 3 thing, do me a favor and skip Dragon Age 3. Make this instead.

So what about the rest of you, escapists? What are some games that you think deserve another installment that haven't gotten one?

Although maybe it's better if we just leave it well enough alone. It'd probably just ruin it.

I have to ask, where is my Freedom Force sequel, Irrational? Okay, Bioshock is good, really good. But how could you end The 3rd Reich on THAT ending, and just leave us hanging for seven years?!

"The human mind.
600 miles of synaptic fiber.
5 ½ ounces of cranial fluid.
1500 grams of complex neural matter.
A 3-pound pile of dreams.
But I?ll tell you what it really is: it is the ultimate battlefield and the ultimate weapon.
The wars of this modern age?the Psychic Age?are all fought somewhere between these damp, curvaceous undulations.
From this day forward you are all psychic soldiers!
Paranormal paratroopers!
Mental marines who are about to ship out on the adventure of their lives!
This is our beachhead and this is your landing craft.
You shall engage the enemy in his own mentality!
You shall chase his dreams, you shall fight his demons, you shall live his nightmares!
And those of you who fight well, you will find yourself on the path to becoming international secret agents.

The rest of you... WILL DIE!"

I'd still love to see an Otogi: 3 made sometime soon.
Also someone really needs to make a sequel to Psychonauts and Bulletstorm. Even though neither of these games did very well financially, I liked them both and would have liked to see more of them.

I'd also like to see a real sequel to the Dungeon Siege series. DS3 wasn't a bad game, but it wasn't a DS game.

I spent about two years of my life on singleplayer and multiplayer DS1, but didn't even play halfway through DS3.

There are three games which I think have been NEEDING a sequel since I first played them

and

and

All three of these titles (series in the case of Battlefront) are excellent games and (imo) should have gotten a sequel.

Marry me.

In all seriousness, I would quite literally punch a baby if it meant we got an Otogi 3. Part of me hopes that, with all the acclaim and success they've got with Demon's/Dark Souls, FROM Software will return to what is easily their most artistically striking series. Otogi (IMO) manages to outdo even Okami when it comes to sheer artistic bravado and use of Japanese inspiration.
And music. You left out music. The only other game I have ever played with music that has stuck with me as long is Katamari Damacy.

Knights of the Old Republic 2. A sequel made by Obsidian, and NOT a goddamn MMO that does its best to shit over any of the subtlety KOTOR 2 offered.

Beyond Good and Evil
Shadow of the Colossus
Brave Fencer Musashi

I know all of these have "sequels" but I mean true sequels! Hell at this point I'd even settle for a 3DS or VITA remake

Okami 2. Okay Okamiden may count but that game is so niche and I want a proper sequel for the Wii.

Phantasy Crash. That game would be even more awesome since it will take advantage of the 360 online play and the mp3 store in the console (since the first game had actual Japanese bans songs it it)

Gotcha Force. Again this would be awesome for a sequel with better graphic and more Borgs to defeat and collet!

Too right, Mirrors Edge was a great game I thought (plus it has the added distinction of featuring a credits song called Still Alive that I actually still want to listen to a few years down the line), it would be great to see a sequel expand on the first game.

Anyway, my own vote for a game that needs a sequel is Outcast. Sadly enough, there was actually a sequel on the way at some point, but it never got to see the light of day. Shame, as it would have been fun to run around Adelpha again as the orange-shirted saviour of a race of long-faced aliens once again.

Also, Freelancer. Heck, I'd be happy if they even just gave that game a fresh lick of paint and chucked it back out there again. And maybe made the planets look a bit more to scale this time...:)

The Naughty Dog Crash Bandicoot games. I'm not counting shit like Crash of The Titans. Please Naughty Dog, buy back the license and make some more!
