>homeworld shipbreakers
Gearbox has come under a lot of criticism for borderlands 2 and colonial marines, and it's falling on this game. I personally am allowing myself to get hyped for it because they are only nibbling on the narrative of homeworld with a very non ambitious story, showing that they respect the ip and want to make it last.

>hotline miami 2
Some people say the first game was overrated but we all loved it and everybody wants to see the sequel. Hopefully they open up with an absurd pricetag so that we have an excuse to give other indies a chance at the spotlight.

>Mount and blade: bannerlord
Mount and blade games appeal to a small niche of gamers and often requires mods (floris) to really enjoy. Bannerlord comes is coming out as what appears to be the companies first true step into this generation and they are attempting to bring polish with them. here's hoping it ends well.

>killing floor 2
Tripwire is attempting to take killing floor and make it an actually polished game. Looks nice so far.

>toxikk/reborn/reflex/unreal tournament 4
Looks like four companies simultaneously decided that they would revive the arena shooter genre. Unfortunately they will all be in direct competition.

Post what games you guys are looking forward too and why

My first two purchases of the new year come out on the same day, and they're both only a few short weeks away!

Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires and DBXenoverse.
DW8E: I've been a fan of the DW franchise for quite a while now, in particular the Empires spin-off series since it adds a strategical element to the gameplay, allowing you to decide when and where you fight, recruit generals that aren't traditionally in your ruler's faction, and most importantly: create your own generals. As a 360 player, I missed out on the PS3 exclusive DW7E, I'm glad I won't have to miss out on this one.

DBX: Come on, who hasn't be a fan of Dragon Ball or DBZ at some point in their life? Sure it's absolutely absurd that the fights take 20 episodes because 15 of them are conversations/flashbacks...when they actually are fighting it's just deliciously over the top with people firing out power-beams that could vaporize entire cities and destroy entire worlds! The reason I'm pumped for this is because it has a massive roster - including Lord Beerus - and I'm really interested in the game's story mode. Rather than have you play through the storylines of the series as in other previous games, this one adds a twist: some baddies are mucking about with the timelines and screwing up events. Future Trunks enlists your created-character's help to make sure all the fights and confrontations turn out the way they're supposed to. I think that adds a layer of immersion previous DB games have been lacking in that your own character is the main character of the story. Add to it that you have a number of races to choose from when making your character (including Majin and Arcosian - that is the race of Frieza) and I think it should be a really fun romp through the DB universe.

Other than those two games, the only other game on my radar doesn't come out until June. That said you can probably already guess what it is...

Arkham Knight: The first two games were great, and I have no reason to believe that this one won't be either considering the fact that Rocksteady is back at the helm (I'm just going to pretend that Origins never happened :p). I've got very high hopes that the quality of Arkham Knight will be back up to par with Arkham Asylum and Arkham City in terms of quality.

Wasnt there a thread like this already?

Star Wars Battlefront: Because I've been waiting nearly a decade for this

Arkham Knight: Because he's Batman

The Division: Maybe Ubisoft won't fuck it up, it is sort of their last chance to redeem themselves

Metal Gear Solid: Phantom Pain: Ground Zeroes was fun, a little more tweaks and the game could be the perfect MGS game

There's actually a lot more but I always forget.

Actually yeah, I made a topic a few days ago asking people what their next new game purchase of this year was going to be. :p

Wow, after Watch_Dogs, AC:Unity, and Far Cry 4 people are still willing to give Ubi the benefit of the doubt? Eh, to each their own I suppose. :p

Well they have made some of my favorite games. And I haven't played any of their games last year asides from Watch_Dogs, so I'm not infected. Third person games are kinda rare these days, so that's another reason I'm looking out for Division.

Fair enough, I suppose. But you don't need to play a game to hear about it, and if you've paid any attention to these forums then I'd imagine you should be fully aware of how atrocious AC:Unity was and how FC4 was just a re-skin of SC3. :p

Well that's why I didn't play them. Freakin' IGN gave Far Cry 4 3 stars, them giving ANYTHING 3 stars is a rare thing. I bought like 2 games last year. I took one look at the face glitch in Unity and didn't bother with it anymore. Still, having not played them personally I can hardly muster up anger for Ubisoft. I'll see I guess.

I don't really know when a game will be released, so I'll just copy and edit my response to another recent thread.

Mostly likely in 2015:

Xenoblade Chronicles X and thats about it really for me. There are others I am interested in but am not really keeping an eye on I will just get them when they come out (or not) kinda excited by them but not enough to bother deliberately keeping up with them.

Hopefully something will surprise me like they announce SC6 but I doubt it even though 5 sold as well or in some reports better than TTT2 we get another Tekken but no SC and they even rushed the last one out the door and it sold that well kinda disappointed in Namco. Still Mildly looking forward to Tekken 7, Infinite Heroines, The sword art online game on PS3, DOA5 LR and Persona 5.

Mount&Blade 2: Bannerlord is by far the most important game coming out this year.

Beyond that you should also keep an eye on Hearts of Iron 4.

I'd treat this game more like an urban legend at this point. It had so many release dates already I stopped counting. Plus, it literally has no info released about it, save for that one art with a knight.

As for my games to look out for this year, definitely RE: Revelations 2. That's it for now. We'll see what this year brings later.

As a few others, I'm waiting for the mythical game that is Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord. Only been waiting two years now.

Pirate Warriors 3 is looking to be one of the greatest Warriors games ever. More characters than ever, more combat options than ever, and just general awesomness! Summer can't get here soon enough.

Arkham Knight. Batman goes back to Rocksteady for an epic finale, woo!

Bloodborne. It's Demon's Souls/Dark Souls with a gothic twist.

Dying Light. Looks like a better version of Dead Island, which I happened to like.

Kingdom Hearts III. Fucking finally.

Persona 5. Because why not? Also, see Tales of Zestiria below.

Resident Evil HD Remake. I already liked the first game, so if they're making it even perfect-er, that's fantastic.

Silent Hills. The series goes back to Japan? With direction by Guillermo del Toro? And maybe Akira Yamaoka is coming back as composer? This is like the last Beatles reunion that never happened. Also: I'm not easily scared, but the teaser was mortifying.

Tales of Zestiria. Fan of Tales since Tales of the Abyss. With Persona, I think this is where JRPGs are truly at nowadays. Whereas Final Fantasy has become a mediocre movie studio and Dragon Quest has all but vanished from recent memory, series like Persona and Tales continue to regularly produce quality JRPGs that do everything right but aren't as noticed, I think, because of platform exclusivity.

That's pretty much it :)

I wonder if they'll have figured out how to convincingly animate a dude swinging a sword by the fourth game in a series about dudes swinging swords.

- The upcoming Zelda, since it seems to be taking a slightly new direction and for Nintendo that equates to leaps and bounds. And Christ, I've gotta play something new on my Wii-U sooner or later.

- Metal Gear Solid 5: The first in the series to have proper action.

- Bloodborne: That Dark Souls atmosphere in a gothic setting.

- The new Uncharted looks fine. It'll be interesting to see just how much the original writer and director leaving mid-project will actually effect it.

And that's kind of it for now.
