I remember playing the classical games when I was kid and how challenging and fun they were. From running around as Sonic the Hedgehog to fighting goons in Streets of Rage; Now it seems that my love for them had passed when I bought the sega mega collection. I still like them but the charm has now left due to the changes to new graphics and more challenging skills. Well enough babbling I thought that if anyone has the same feeling as I have. P.S. Music in games back than are still priceless today.

I don't feel that way at all, still love playing those types of games. Hell, my favorite game as of recent is Castle Crashers, and it's a simple beat-em up at its core. Complexity and graphics can be alot of fun in games, though so can simplicity and simple but bright + colorful graphics.

So simple yet so additive. I love this game I agree with all of your points

I disagree with you completely, OP. I still play games on my Atari 2600, my Sega Genesis, and my SNES, and I hold many games on these systems closer to me than any game on the Xbox 360 or Wii. It isn't even the nostalgia, I just prefer the games to the current ones.

It's not like chewing gum. The classics may be old, but they have yet to lose their flavor.

Hell, I still whip out my Genesis from time to time when I need a break from the cookie-cutter games we have now.

I have the Genesis Collection on my PSP, but you just can't beat the feel of an actual Genesis controller in your hand, plus that slippery X button just doesn't work with Sonic and Sonic 2.

I love old games, I grew up on the SNES and the Megadrive so those will always hold great memories. I've been through the N64, the PSX, GC, PS2 etc., but I love getting out my old copy of StarFox on the SNES and totally failing at beating it every so often. It's an amazing feeling because it brings back so many good memories over years of playing.

It's also sometimes way more entertaining! The old Sonic Games are way more fun to play than some of the newer ones. They were simpler, get to the end of the level, but it was more fun!

So the whole experience can sometimes be more entertaining. I'm no retro freak but the old titles are sometimes better than somw newer games, and even if they're not it's still fun to go back to your childhood.

It's great how this week has seen a lot of nostalgia threads considering this weeks issue, lol.

Loads of older games have stood the test of time.

Out of the hundreds(thousands?) of games available since the 80s, there were always bound to be those which would remain classics to this day.

People mention "progress" and "you have to move forward" but you don't have to forget the past while you progress!

Some of todays game developers need to take a good hard look at those games which defined the past 20 years. They might learn something.
