Games vs. Real Life

Just wondering what games y'all lost your real life playing. I'm sure there's a lot of WoW's and CoD's. Just wondering if there was a game that kinda caught you off guard, you weren't necessarily expecting to lose months or maybe years playing it. For me it was Guild Wars, the PvP anyways. I picked it up a week or so after launch on a whim... snapped out of a daze almost 5 years later. Never had a game get it's claws in me quite like that since. Borderlands was fun stuff, but after beating all the DLC and looting one of each class out, I got bored. I guess since I still have spurts of playing Diablo 2 for a couple weeks or so, that could be my greatest old flame. Still, I had my best and most successful gaming moments with Guild Wars. Will always love her for that. None the less, I won't be playing GW2, unless I get bored and have run through my "to play" list. I WOULD like to find a new love on the other hand, any suggestions? Doesn't have to be a NEW game. Thanks for any and all ideas.

Right now it's UMVC3 . I have 160 hours online ... A match is 99 seconds long . I have played around 5000 matches ( there are statistics ). Yup ... Yup :/

Shogun 2: Fall of the Samurai on Legendary diffculty.

Its pure frustration on a disk as it makes you really have to think about what to buy, what to recruit and proper battle tactics. Mainly because it wont let you save the game at all, it only autosaves at the end of your turn. So if you click "next", you had better be damn sure that everything is in order.

Its taken up a fair amount of time to get even up and running on one campaign so far, that includes rage quitting and starting up the campaign again. I recommend that people should try this stroke inducing mode.

I never lost my life playing games but I have lost plenty of sleep. The biggest contenders being Persona, Pokemon, Minecraft and Skyrim which all have over 300 hours in them.

If you want a new game try Persona. Even if you just play through 3 and 4 (the best ones) once, that will still take 150 hours of your life and that's if you're rushing. Then if you try to 100% the game or play through a new game+ you'll have countless more hours.

WoW. Though soon it will be Guild Wars 2!

Oh, and the first Bioshock. It wasn't a massively long game but I wasn't really expecting to like it as much as I did. That game freaking swallowed me, I have no idea what happened in between the times I was playing.

I spent a day straight on L.A. Noire... Does that count? It's the longest I've ever spent on a game without stopping for anything...

And I spent like 100 hours playing Dark Souls but it was made up of several 5 hour periods...

Diablo II.

I've sunk hours and hours of my time playing that game, I still play that game occasionally, but not as much as I used to. That was my go to game for a solid year and I honestly have no idea how I managed to have a life with that going on.

The first two Mass Effect games consumed me. I'm not the type that beats games more than once and bothers to replay them, but they were quite addicting. Hundreds of hours with multiple versions of Shepard... those two games and DA:O were awesome enough for me to buy them a second time when I built my gaming PC, and I played the hell out of them.

Together, Runescape/Guild Wars consumed years of my life, and even to this day I occasionally hear the siren call of both games. Very addicting, in my opinion, but I may have an addiction-prone personality.

I fear what Guild Wars 2 will do to me. May as well classify myself as legally dead once early access starts.

400 days /played on WoW, 30 days /played on Modern Warfare 2, around 500 hours for the Mass Effect series. Fate/Stay Night made me lethargic for 3 days every route I finished, so special mention for that.

Okami, any Civilization or Sim city game, Fallout 3, Skyrim and World of Tanks are the main culprits of time thievery in my life.

I've, sadly, yet to see anything in GW2 that interests me too much. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure it's gonna be a great game, but the fact that the PvP retains virtually none of the aspects of the original is a real letdown for me. I'll always struggle to overcome that bias while playing. I know it's a bit childish, and maybe even fanboyish... but meh, can't I do it for just this one thing?
