I'm looking for a game on PC with a good melee combat system , Examples of games I played that had satisfying melee combat are:
Dark messiah of might and magic
Witcher 2
Rune
Mount and blade : warband
Severence blade of darknesss
I've played the morrowind+oblivion+skyrim and While they are awesome the combat isnt really their strength
Can anyone reccemend anything?

DMC4, and if you PC is good enough to emulate God Hand do that too (after you buy it so it's legal).

DMC3 is also available on PC but is a terrible port and from what I've heard it runs better if you emulate that as well.

Y'know, come to think of it, I don't think I've ever played a game that got melee combat exactly right.

Arkham City and Oni are about as close as anything has got for me.

Then don't play God Hand either, it's also over the top fun.

I did not play it on the PC but unless there were drastic changes, I would highly recommend:

Condemned: Criminal Origins and to a lesser extent, it's sequel (although according to Wikipedia, the sequel Bloodshot seems to have missed the PC boat).

There are few games that seem to get the violence of hand-to-hand combat correct while still being fun and this game nails it. The game can also be pretty damn terrifying too, always a plus in my book.

I think you just listed most of the best.
Ermmm.... let's see

Arx Fatalis is simple, but much more satisfiying than morrowind, which came out around the same time.

Die by the sword is very interesting.

You could also take a look at Redguard, which had some nice swashbuckling.

I can't exactly remember how melee in the thief games is, though I do recall it to be quite solid.

Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay. One of the few first-person shooters that have done melee combat right. (The other being Condemned: Criminal Origins, which has been named already.)

How could I forget that one? mechanically it was really simple (1 type of attack and the rest being timing), but it was so satisfying. Gotta play that game again.

Both games in the Batman: Arkham series are probably the best combat systems I've played. It's just so satisfying, especially the slow-mo for the last hit.

I tried the demo for arx fatalis on steam and it seems to have a ton of issues on windows 7 like sometimes my character runs at an abnormal speed the fps is really choppy the game is very unplayable Basically it seems interesting but I dont think it works on windows 7 64bit

Odd, mine almost runs perfectly as far as I know (Only played it for 5 mins, since i still want to dig up my old saves) The only problem I had is bumpmapping causing some surfaces, doors in particular, not to be textured.

It might be the demo. There was some odd stuff going on when I played the demo, like my character rotating 180 degrees for no reason. I don't know if the Steam demo is technically any different from the old/regular one, though.
Have you tried finding a solution on the steam forums? If you can fix it, I'd really recommend getting it. I enjoyed it a lot.

EDIT: I might have to add that I run Arx from the original disc, rather than Steam.

You could always buy it on the original Xbox, if you are having compatibility issues with the PC version, considering you have one that is.

I'm not sure if it works on the 360, it's quite possible though.

Toribash! It's free, too, so give it a try: http://www.toribash.com/

Of course, if you want a game that has something other than a good melee combat system, the only things I can think of right now (that you haven't already mentioned) are Arkham Asylum/City and Dark Messiah of Might and Magic.

Melee combat is usually pretty poor in games, and I think it's mainly because video games tend to be really floaty. This makes none of the attacks seem to have any real weight behind them, which doesn't matter so much for ranged attacks, but just makes close combat feel wrong.

yeah but Redguard is way too much of a pain in the ass to get running, let alone running smoothly and with sound+cutscenes working properly =P
