I'm sure that everyone has a game that is special to them, be it from experiences with the people that you played it with or how you received it.

For me, it's Settlers II. An older PC strategy game from the mid 90's, me and my dad would play it for hours, must to my mother's dismay. Whenever I think of The Settlers, I think of my dad. I think of all the little details from the game that become regular inside jokes with us, like when the geologist would jump for joy and yell YIPPEE whenever he found something. My dad doesn't play video games anymore and hasn't for years, but when the Settlers II Special Edition came out a few years ago, both of us were all over that.

What video game is special to you?

Castlevania: Lament of Innocence

No one else seems to love that game as much as I, so I have a special bond with it.

Star Ocean: The Second Story. I was 8 when I got this game. It was my first RPG, and I played it non-stop. It's still my favorite JRPG, to this day, and it's one of the few PS1 games I still have the discs for.

PokeMon Blue.
It was my first game ever.
I was so stupid back then (When I was 6) that I couldn't "escape" my own character's house.
My mom, at one point, picked it up, and a few minutes later handed it back to me, with my guy outside.
She used to take it to work sometimes (She was a paramedic, lots of downtime) and play it for hours.
I still have it, my original GameBoy, and my first save.
...
I'm so gonna go play that when I get some time.

Bionic Commando on the NES (one of the first games I ever played), Icewind Dale and Descent on the PC, and TOCA 2: Touring Cars on the Playstation.

Skies of Arcadia: Legends. It represents everything I hate about JRPGs, and yet I keep coming back. There's just something about it that made me look past the flaws and keep replaying it.

Half-Life 1

It and mods of it consumed the lions share of my gaming time all through junior high and high school.

I have a pretty deep connection with Klonoa. That game was one of the first that made me decide i wanted to be a game designer. I used to spend hours and hours scribbling ideas on paper wishing they could be made into full games, trailing my finger across the paper pretending my character was moving. ^^

15 years later i'm still trying to become a game developer - indie seems like the way to go :p

Gunstar Heroes. As a child, me and my sister played it together constantly. Very fond memories of it.

Lego Racers.

So the multiplayer is non-existent. So the single-player is too easy.

But it's FUN.

Shenmue 2
I'll second Castlevania: Lament of Innocence and add Castlevania: Curse of Darkness. Both of those were great games. There wasn't anything functionally wrong (like camera issues or game freezing) with it and I really enjoyed the levels and gameplay.
Sure, the story kinda sucked, but I never played Castlevania for story. The new Castlevania being directed by Kojima actually worries me because it might be just a vaguely interactive cutscene (which is fine for MGS but not for Castlevania).

sonic the hedgehog one. I'll never forget my first time seeing that game at a selfish friend's house who wouldn't let us have our turn. What an ass he was.

It's a choice between HL2 and Warcraft 3 RoC + FT and it is one I do not want to make. HL2 is fantastic game with a deep story and is pure fun. WC3 was my second ever game (first being Pokemon Blue which is also brilliant) and I have played it from back when I was 6-7 years old and haven't stopped.

I'm just goin to have to say both of these.

Call of duty three. The best game of that franchise. I hated every thing after it and I loved the fact that I think it takes place in easy company, I forget. but anyways it was terribly sad at the end and I loved it the most...yet when 4 came out I said "O FUCK THIS." Also I hated 5 because being in the pacific just sucks. and you can't feel close to the squad because they are not well described and in modern warfare.. well those guys are like 2 people. I felt like these guys in CoD3 were real American boys. not what ever the hell those people are in MW and WoW
