We all have them. Games that forever float in our library, or always find their way into our disc slot in our console. You don't care how dated the graphics are, you don't care how many times you've played the story in every permutation, you just love it, and keep coming back for more.

Mine are the original inFamous. I love this game. I can't really articulate exactly why it hit such a strong nerve for me, but it did, and I never tire of playing it. I can state what I usually do, which is where a certain random moment in the game created a genuine emotional response out of me, and few games can actually do that. But it's more than just that one flashpoint moment for me, the game in it's entirety just calls to me, and I always love dusting it off and warming it up.

Homeworld 1, but especially Homeworld: Cataclysm. My god I love these games. So atmospheric, so captivating, so beautiful. Just, everything about them makes me all giggly and joyful to play them.

So those are mine, what are yours? What is your digital game version of comfort food?

There's no game I never get tired of playing, but Left 4 Dead and Team Fortress are two games I come back to every now and again and each time feels just as fun as before. I just cannot play them for long stretches at a time due to their somewhat repetitive nature.

I've been playing almost nothing but League of Legends the past year and for the most part I still enjoy it. My lack of friends in the game is probably the thing that puts me off the most at this point, as playing with random people is more frustrating than it is worth most of the time.

Any game in the Warriors series can relax me, Dynasty Warriors, Samurai Warriors, and Pirate Warriors. Pirate Warriors 3 is my current go to game, cause nothing feels better then after a shitty day of work coming home to play as my favorite One Piece character and slaughter over two thousand men a battle.

I'm probably repeating myself for umpteenth time now but these games never leave my computer and gets a complete play-through at least once a year:
Beyond Good & Evil, Anachronox, Freelancer, Startopia, Escape Velocity Nova, Harbinger, Deus Ex, Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines, Knight of the Old Republic..and apologies to any game I forgot.

There are also a number of games I continuously dabble in that can't ever really be "finished":
Dwarf Fortress, Darkout, Gnomoria, Minecraft, Terraria, Rimworld, Transcendence, Dungeon Siege II BW, Tales of Maj'Eyal, Diablo II, Titan Quest IT, Torchlight II, Distant Worlds Universe, Imperium Galactica II, Master of Orion III, Space Empires IV, Sword of the Stars, One Finger Death Punch..

As you can probably see, I prefer older and/or Indie games for a reason I won't go in to here.
You could also discern my major genre's of interest.

I've completed MGS Rising Revengeance at least 7 times total and have completed it on every difficulty. I still play it when I have nothing else to do, I fucking love that game.

I don't play League of Legends as much as I did but I still play it every other day. Well it's actually Yasuo Simulator 2015 because he's the only guy I play now. I'm a person who enjoys learning new things and after years of League I can play every character i've ever been interested in well enough so I lost interest in them. Yasuo has the highest skill ceiling in the game (aside from maybe Kalista) and it is so fucking easy to screw up with him. You misclick your E once and oops you just dashed into the entire enemy team.

He's an aggravating dick of a character for whoever he's fighting I admit. Dash cooldown of 0.1 seconds with a move that blocks all projectiles so if you doesn't dash out of all your damage he blocks half of the ults your team has instead.

I guess Hearthstone is the only game I played nonstop since release. It's enjoyable and brings a smile to my face even when you lose and the fact that every match is quite short and you don't need to focus or keep track of a story it the ideal game to enjoy on these busy adult life days.

Garrys Mod for one. I go on sprees of playing it non-stop for a month or two, then abandon it for another couple months before picking it up again. Always fun though.

I WANT to say Team Fortress 2, but I never get "into" it anymore. Whenever I give it a go again, its for 2 weeks AT MOST, more often less than a week. I can hardly say it holds my attention anymore.

Interestingly I just finished watching team fourstar's Renegade For Life Let's Play of MGSRR:The Second Revengining, the one game so far that Vegeta has played from beginning to end, since he loved how he could slaughter people with it. Very amusing to watch if you haven't seen it, I'd suggest checking it out.

UT2k4 allllll dayyy! I never get tired of it and I've never stopped getting a thrill from a hard won match. Always one of the first games I install whenever I'm working with a new or recently wiped computer.

Dota 2. The game chews me up and spits me out in Russian hell. Full of ragequitters, flamers and idiots to name a few the game makes me angry beyond all belief. If you really want to see someone's true personality, make them play Dota. It's so rage inducing that anyone who can stay optimistic within that game deserves a medal. Now after saying all that...WHY CAN'T I STOP PLAYING IT? Am I just a masochist? Do I enjoy terrible lag and being insulted by Russians? Do I enjoy wasting an hour to play a single game? Everything about the game just makes me angry and yet I keep coming back to it. To either kick arse or have mine kicked.

My longest played and still active game is Killing Floor. I'm going to kind of cheat a bit and combine the 444 hours on KF1 with the 36 hours on KF2 because its basically the same gameplay, just shinier graphics and new maps.

I love the intense action, challenging myself to get the higher difficulty achievements, and the way total strangers will cooperate, sharing cash, covering each other, healing each other.

Symphony of the Night and any "Metroidvania" Castlevania games are always replayable for me regardless of the circumstances that make me come back to them. They make up the majority of the few games I ever find myself wanting to actually get back into for another playthrough.

I kind of consider myself weird for that, as there are also plenty of games I would declare as masterpieces of the medium that I can't bring myself to replay.

Kerbal Space Program is a game that doesn't really end, but I've sunk more hours into that game then any other game I've ever played(almost 200 at this point). Even when I get pissed off at it, it'll only be a matter of time before I get sucked back in, because there's the challenge of "How do I solve the problem that stopped me playing in the first place?" and then thinking "Well, this might work, and if that doesn't I've got a bunch of other things to try". Not to mention the Kerbs looks up to me and who am I to let them down.

Final Fantasy 6; I used to play this at least once beginning to end annually.
Diablo 2; I put about 7 years into this game before I finally stopped playing it on a daily basis.
Starcraft 1; LAN + brothers = infinite fun.

Diablo 3 is my current most-played game.
I've poured a lot of hours into Borderlands 2, Fallout New Vegas and Space Pirates and Zombies, and Skyrim. About 2000 hours combined.

Mass Effect 2. It has the perfect blend of excellent writing, world exploration, cinematic presentation, and raw action. It's relaxing to play, and I always find new details that change the game. That series had some of the best replayability ever.

I'll never get tired of FF7 or Kingdom Hearts, even though I'll go years without playing either. They have a certain magic other games lack.

Yeah, I fiddled around with KSP demo a while ago, and found it interesting. I'm waiting for a sale to pick up the full game.
