People and fanboys always have their favourite games and, much to many peoples dislike, these are generally overhyped, well marketed, popularist games. Some really fun games were ignored by popular society because of the big shiny looking game with all the marketing banners around the game shop, RTS, RPG or otherwise.

This is for your opinion of the games in the past few years (or later, if you really want), those games you thought great, but overshadowed by the big FPS of the year.

Ok, Go ape

I may have been inadvertantly hiding under a rock, but I didn't hear a lot of hype about Civilization 5, and that is a truelly great series of games. Aside from Civ Rev, which was... meh.

Homeworld. That game is the very definition of a forgotten gem. It's a shining beacon of light in gaming, a beautiful piece of art nobody remembers. Everything it did just worked. It's still the best game I've ever had the joy of playing.

It's an absolute classic, but unlike Halo CE or Half-Life (also from that era, around a decade back) it doesn't get remembered. Presumably because Starcraft also came out at around that time.

In My opinion the Command and conquer Red Alert games were kick ass. 'Nuff said.

Army of TWO was always a bit of fun, but im not sure whether they were massively hyped, I cant remember

Fracture was quite bad, but it was fun whilst playnig the campaign, good unique game mechanic and excellent to see LucasArts doing something other than Star Wars

Everyone, start talking about Timesplitters. If we yell loud enough, Crytek stated they'll have Crytek UK(formerly Free Radical) make one.

So get shouting!

MAKE MOAR TIMESPLITTERS!

Alien Swarm, i downloaded it back when it was in beta and i've recently gone back to it. It is so much fun and imo one of the best games you can play online, for free at least.

It saddens me that a great indie game like Amnesia struggles to sell 30 or 40,000 copies when the latest instalment of big, bland franchises are regarded as failures when they don't hit a million in pre-orders...

Deus Ex Invisible War and Alpha Protocol.

Deus Ex Invisible War is better than most FPS games but yet because it wasn't as good as the first one, I see so much hate on it, it just gets silly, Yes, there were long loading times, small areas, and a short game, but still less linear ways to do obstacles and enemies than most FPS games. (it may have gotten good pro reviews though)

Alpha Protocol, I just found more fun than the Mass Effect games, less pointless boring crap to do such as going around empty planets, driving a piece of shit, and doing planet scanning. If I'm going to be replaying an covershooting RPG game I prefer Alpha Protocol.
