Hi guys, ok I just came back from my flight to Köln (Germany) for Gamescom 2011, and I wanted to share with you how I lived the various game booths I visited, and also hoping the ones of you who went there too can share what they felt of the booths they visited.
I mostly went there for Guild Wars 2, being a Guild Wars player for 6 years now. I also visited the Mass Effect 3 booth, Witcher 2 booth, Space Marine booth and to a certain degree the Lord of the Rings Online booth.
Before I say anything, let me just say it was an amazing experience, doubly so since my guild mates/friends were there, so it made PvP in Guild Wars 2 even more enjoyable.
Of all the booths I saw, Arenanet was the best in my opinion. Not because I am a Guild Wars fanboy, but because the staff and even the bloody founder himself actually came over to personally talk to the fans and answer their questions. Whether it was the story director or PvP designer or the CEO himself, they all welcomed input and ideas from the fans. They laughed with us personally, gave us tips on how to play both PvE and PvP and signed our Guild Wars franchise (T-Shirts, books etc...).
As a consumer, I felt apreciated for my support for their work, what they promised they delivered and am willingly shouting "please take my money, your earned my trust".
I enjoyed the Space Marine booth because the waiting wasn't too long to play the Multiplayer experience and we got to pose with a Space Marine and an Ork in front of a 1:1 scale drop pod. The funniest thing being that Saints Row the thrid shared the booth with them and had a couple of lightly dressed girls dancing like in a strip club, but noone watched them, only focused on the games
Who said gamers were pervs eh?
Overall, I had a great time, allowed to see my guild mates in a rich environment full of waiting to play ^^ but could talk with complete strangers and sharing our gaming experiences.
