Because the mods are on their own, isn't that obvious? Mods can only do so much, and this at least is within their power.

Because any such solutions would require a tech team or at least an on site Webmaster and The Escapist doesn't have one and Defy is too cheap to hire one. It's really a requirement for a site like The Escapist so it makes you wonder why Defy bothers to keep the site online at all.

While I know there isn't much stuff a mod can do but what will happeend if the spambots take over the rest of the subsections??

I mean Off Topic has been targeted lately, what's stopping the bots going after Feature Contents, Newsroom, Advice forum and etc? I think the only subsection would be left standing is ironically the Wild West? I mean only pubushlier club members can access to that section which bots do not have at the start?

Is this the real reason why Kross gave us that membership before he got sack????

We are hoping that this is just a stop-gap until the staff figures out a way to fix it. We have been assured that the staff are in contact with higher ups to figure it out but us Mods just plain got overrun. We were hoping that this would help (it seems to have at least helped a little bit from what I've heard but doesn't sound like a perfect plan).

Our goal/hope as Mods is that we can handle the spambots in the other subsections. While they do appear there, it seems much less in numbers compared to what we have to deal with in the Gaming Discussion thread. Whether that will stay the case remains to be seen but the Mods unfortunately just can't handle what we were fighting in Gaming Discussion anymore.
