Good evening, guys.

So there have been a number of occasions in where I wanted to go to a friends house to play a game, but he doesn't own two desktops (I know, right?). So I decided to get a gaming laptop for myself, and I thought it might be better to ask people who have a clue what they're talking about.

I'm looking to spend about 700$ or less. I know I can't get something very good for that price, but I figured someone out there must know a good choice.

So, fellow escapees, any suggestions?

Happy late New Years, by the way.

Don't do it. Just pack up your desktop and take it round. The money you will pay for a "gaming" laptop will be a waste, twice the price, half the power, 4 times shorter life span of a similarly priced desktop.

To be honest, this is the one time I can justify Alienwares. They actually make some really nice laptops, I've got the m11x and I'm really happy with it.

I was able to get it at a lower price though as they are still pretty pricey.

You may want to take a look at some brands that aren't known for their gaming hardware if you're being money conscience. If the specs match what you need and its in your price range, go for it.

Make sure its not ridonculously heavy though, they have a habit of becoming obscenely heavy.

Under $700? Not happening. I baught an ASUS G60 series laptop for $1250, including $150-200 for the Microsoft Office programs. It gets the job done, but I NEEDED portablity, and I consider anyone who packs up a desktop just to transport to a friends house for an afternoon an idiot. My PC guru friend even agreed that Laptops dont make good gaming PC, but that it was the best idea for a college student that needed to use his computer for more important things than just playing games on.

You can't get a good "gaming" laptop for that little, but you can probably get a nice Toshiba or something similar that'll be good for what you want.

Personally, I love gaming on a laptop (though I am using a five year old Dell right now.

What you're gonna want here is a decent laptop for light gaming on trips, and a really good gaming desktop at home.

I dont think u can get a good gaming computer for under 1000$ actually. Get a good name brand laptop and just spend the 75$ for a decent graphics card
