We're all gamers here. Most of us have been playing for years, maybe before we could read. A lot of the time, the memories we kept from older games stayed with us. So, with all the new games out, think back a little: What is one of your worst/favorite/saddest/funniest Gaming Memory?

I'll start:

One of my earliest - and potent - memories of gaming was when I was about six years-old. I was playing Diablo 1 with my dad on the Playstation. Back then I called all Fantasy genre games "Skeleton Games" - you can guess why.

I was the archer, my dad the warrior. We were in a sewer, and came upon this room with people strung up on meat hooks and gore inside. A dying man told us to avenge him, by killing a Demon who went by the name "The Butcher". I wasn't fazed, and dad opened the door...

"AHH...Fresh, MEAT..."

That voice made me jump out of my beanbag, and haul ass straight to my room. I was sobbing and I told my dad: "I don't WANNA fight him. He'll EAT ME. KILL HIM!"

But I was canoodled out, my dad telling me, "you just run around and distract him, I'll kill him". So that's what happened: through tears I ran around the dungeon, making The Butcher follow me, while screaming at my dad (who was laughing), "KILL IT DADDY!".

Nothing else fazed me in that game, just The Butcher.

Here's the URL of moment, if you're curious (around 25 seconds he says the line): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ICvV83ZkD_E
(it still gives me goosebumps)

Your turn!

Playing Super Tecmo Bowl with my dad on the 8 bit NES. I was playing as the awful patriots and he was the colts. With no time left I was heading to the end-zone for the game winning score and he tackled me at the 1 yard line. 25 years later we still talk about that game!

This game for its day 1991 had it all. Cut scenes, stat tracking, pick your own plays, injuries, seasons, even playoff mode. Its sad that madden is on top today when this gem had it all way before the old man took over!

Nothing to do with the actual game but teaching my mum how to play Assassin's Creed 2 was a really nice moment for me. She loved it, saw that it wasn't just a "guy hobby" and that you could actually learn something from games (i.e history, battle tactics etc).
It opened her eyes to gaming and she got the hang of it surprisingly quickly. That memory just always makes me smile.

Hehe similar thing on the dad front we were playing Hogs of War (my god this game is awesome its what worms 3D should have been). Anyway was a close match we were having until my dad accidentally killed one of his own pigs... which he discovered doesn't actually harm him in fact it gave him kills! so it decendant into choas with both of us trying to kill our own pigs before the other one to end the game.

He won by killing his own pigs... we still laugh about it now, after that game house rules came into affect of no killing your own pigs on purpose, thus began arguments about wether or not you did or did not kill your own pigs on purpose.

Oh God, parents and video games. I love it!

Here's a memory I have with my oldest brother:

He was playing Final Fantasy 7, and lost a big battle (I don't remember which). He got so angry he threw the Playstation controller on the ground. I was watching him play, and the controller bounced off the hardwood floor and bashed me in the eyeball.

We got Mac 'n Cheese that night for supper, to cheer me up.

Periodically having to check the dense game manuals to answer in-game security questions; I kinda miss it now.
