I am looking to buy a PC caoable of playing mainly MMO's and FPS games such as the upcoming LFD2 and Modern Warefare 2. I am looking to spend around 300 GBP (496.138 USD, 611.763 AUD, 355.999 EUR) on it and was wondering if anyone could post a decent PC or a custom build which would fit my price.

Check the PC Gamer UK website, I think they have back articles there and they built good gaming PC's from scratch for ~£560. a few months back.

What are your current system specs? It might be possible to cannibalize some parts if they're half-decent. Frankenputers aren't pretty, but they save money.

I've seen Frankenputers that could run most anything and do it well. If you are good at cobbling them together, I'd really look into that option.

1300 pounds? What the hell are you talking about?

You can put together a pretty good gaming desktop for half that if you're smart enough to actually shop around.

I suggest you look around on the web and see you can pick up. Though £300 limits you quite abit.

300 is very very little, go work some in the summer and when you have like 700 you can make a killer rig of doom!

Do you have peripherals and a monitor already? If so, what's the resolution of the monitor?

£260 excluding monitor makes a crossfire system. That isnt cutting edge but its within tolerance for MMO's and upgradeable.

Now way on $400 US. About $600-650 for a halfway-decent gaming PC. Good luck with that though.

This stretches your budget a bit, but it'll perform quite well for the price (£400 inc. VAT).

CPU: Intel e5200 [http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Intel-Pentium-Dual-Core-E5200-Socket-775-Wolfdale-Core-2x25-GHz-2MB-Cache-Retail]

You can get a free prerelease copy of Windows 7 here [http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/download.aspx] which is good for the next year ('til June 2010)

The graphics card is overkill for your monitor's resolution, but it's a really excellent deal at £110. You could move to a Radeon 4670 or 4770, allowing you to switch to a smaller power supply (~450W) and saving £25 or so. If you do that, the Cyberpower linked above may make more sense: it performs comparably and comes with a full copy of Windows.

You should really get at least a 4670 [http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/512Mb-Sapphire-HD-4670-DDR3] for gaming.
