Just listening to a podcast and the subject came up, does anyone on the escapist have any gaming tattoos or any good ideas for gaming related tattoos?

I would call them a bad idea. Especially with franchising, first game your tattoo is cool but by the third you are considered a fucktard for liking that game.

I've always though that getting a small green triforce symbol on the forearm would be nice.

There was this woman who used to be in a band I listen to often. That is a story for another time but she has a tattoo of a Nintendo Powerglove that wraps around her right wrist and forearm if I remember correctly. Might've been the left.

got a rebel alliance starbird (or the Marek family crest) at the base of my neck,

I'm getting the Assassin's Creed seal for my birthday on my left wrist and am considering a fleur-de-lis as my next, next tat

At the end of the day, you get a tattoo because you like it, regardless of what it is, or what it relates to.

I think gaming tattoos are kind of iffy. I have no problems with tattoos themselves, I have one and am completely content with it.

A game would have to leave a considerably lasting effect on and be deeply meaningful for me to ever consider getting a part of it tattooed to my skin. I've played many games that I've thoroughly enjoyed and that got me a bit emotional when I completed them; but when I woke up the next day, I was ready to start the next game in the pile. The idea of a gaming tattoo has never really crossed my mind.

If I was to ever get a gaming ink job. I'd get the Novamarines Emblem on my right shoulder.

It looks cool regardless of being a Warhammer 40K fan. Plus it's small, so it's less to get done.

I will eventually get the pacman tattoo that gabe from Penny arcade rocks. I think that's just brilliant. Pacman also has a fair amount of significance to my formative years.

If I was to get a gaming tattoo I'd get something very stylised or obscure, so to anyone who doesn't game it just looks like a cool design, but gamers will recognise the image easily.

I don't plan on getting a tattoo because I don't think they'd suit me.

My only tattoo (left wrist) is of a hobbe doodle I found inside the Fable II art book.
I have him because I think he's very much an example of who I am. I love that dichotomy of innocent child and adorable buffoon meets dangerous and deadly beast.
Plus, look at him. He is so effing adorable.

And yes, he is supposed to look like a crude drawing. It's not supposed to be perfect.
He looks better now that he's healed as well. This was taken the night I got him. xD

I think gaming tattoos are pretty cool, but I would probably only get one that was semi-vague. I would never get a character's face tattooed or anything like that. I'm thinking of one day getting a tattoo that includes the line from FFX: "Listen to my story... this may be our last chance" incorporated with some other neat design, maybe also including a blitzball and/or a chocobo.

I was also thinking of getting one of a clock with thirteen hours, an homage to the movie Labyrinth. :D

I wouldn't ever want to get a character tattooed on myself, but symbols from certain games that left lasting impressions? Sure! I'd love to get the qunari symbol from dragon age, or something from the shin megami tensei games.

I have the Starmen crest from Earthbound tattooed already. It's obscure enough that most people don't know what it is, and I honestly don't care for the opinions of people who think it's a dumb idea, even if it I do pass it off as something personal. And really, I have no problems with other people's gaming tattoos. I mean, I'll make fun of them for it, but only if I know they're comfortable with their choice. If it's something you wanted on your body, then awesome. If not, oh well. Go nerd culture. Go gaming culture. Have fun with it, it's not like it really matters.
