I've been spending a few months on a work gig, residing in hotels, having only the weekends for actual free time, getting back to my own place with access to my computer. My work is quite demanding physically, and with the 40 or so hours I've got for to actually do whatever the hell I want, I like to zero down the week with a few beers or a bottle of wine. Sometimes there isn't much happening so I like to play games for some lovely escapism. Even if I don't drink, I've often found myself a bit tired, reasonably bored or under other circumstances that don't exactly help to concentrate on any too competitive, story-driven or other games that demand a certain amount of focus.

So, my question for You, the other lovely Escapees is: what games do you like to play when you're not exactly 100%; drunk, tired and so on? You can share stories too if you like.

Once played Codblops on Hardcore FFA on XBL (so lagtastic at times) after drinking 6 budweisers and being a total lightweight.

I kicked massive amounts of arse somehow...

WoW, i never, EVER sign into wow these days unless i have absolutly nothing better to do and/or unable to do something better, i always call it "mindlessing myself through the night" it kills time, failing that ill replay a game ive already played so that i can play half assed.

Either mindless, easy fun or StarCraft 2 against lower settings AI. It can be pretty funny to not really keep track of what you're doing and end up with a completely shit army, which then gets you stomped on due to complete lack of army cohesion or effective counters. The 15 minute "Oh shit, didn't I have a factory somewhere?" is always a good moment.

Oh, and occasionally Mount and Blade: with Fire and Sword. I die so fast, but a few beers and yelling "Special Tactics!" as my horse charges into the enemy artillery line is always good for a laugh.

Smash Bros is pretty hilarious when everyone's drunk, and I've passed time while sobering up more than once by booting up MW2 and running around knifing ppl with commando.

I nearly always get roped in to a clan game or a PUG in those cercastances and boy is it fun XD. That or play FPS's on easy and own them hard still. I find the clan games in the world leuge are always epic fun smashed. More if the season rides on the out come.

I must say normally when drunk I am out so I mostly game under sub-par conditions when I've not slept for X hours. X being an unhealthily long amoutn of time. My imsonia as made me hit a good day past the 100 hours mark before.

That's kind of like what Counter-Strike: Source has been and is for me. I mean, I actually sometimes launch it in a routinely manner, even though I'm about to play something else...

Although, having spent about a decade with the Counter-Strike franchise, I still must admit that I really enjoy it at times. On other times it just cuts a few nerve connections.

Counterstrike is bad for this, you sober up super quick. Usually when a gun goes off.
Yeah, it's really strange. I actually play quite near my best level sometimes after a couple of beers.

After that, I'll be swinging from spectacular thoughtless-muscle-memory-reflex-shots to mindless bunny jumping against enemy rushers :D

Wouldn't really say it sobers me up, but it does have a certain instinct-sharpening effect.

I once beat my ex-girlfriend at Dead or Alive 2 whilst blind drunk. I don't even remember seeing the characters on-screen but I was aparently able to attack AND counter, which requires pretty accurate timing. Odd.

Welcome to The Escapist!

I'm a complete newbie when it comes to fighting games, and to consoles as well. Yet, I beat an ex-girlfriend's little brother in Dead Or Alive 4 (I think, it was that), after he had just finished int the Top 5 in a competitive tournament on a huuuge LAN party occasion. Bashing keys like a maniac is the way to go, it seems.

Viva pinata is quite nice to play when you're not up to speed.
You can just sit back and relax, doing only as well as you want to. No pressure, take it eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeasy.

Surprisingly, I like playing standard adversarial games when somewhat drunk. Some of my best rounds in various FPS titles have been while in an unsafe to drive a real car state. Games I cannot play when drunk include: RTS, Sports, RPG or Rhythm.

I actually got the idea for this thread in between successfully playing CS:S and after a while of (trying to play) DiRT 3 (with a gaming racing wheel set).

Red Faction...any of them, though I have not played the latest one. Mindlessly blowing everything up around me (especially in Guerilla) is even better drunk, and that says something since it is pretty awesome while sober.
