Gaming with a "touchpad"

I have a friend who is VERY good at using the touchpad on his laptop, and can even fly helicopters and jets in battlefield using it. I, on the other hand, cannot.
That sounds helacious. Utterly and absolutely.

I cannot do it. In fact, I can't even game with a regular mouse. My mouse must be a trackball mouse or I am toast.
And not just any trackball, the thumb trackball.

I find touchpad gaming gets a lot more flak than it deserves. Thanks to an old unhealthy addiction of mine (World of Warcraft), which I've now thankfully escaped, I find I'm capable of playing FPS games like CS:S and UT in online multiplayer with no problem at all.
In my opinion, the touchpad is a great friend to any laptop gamer!

i do it when i have too, but i suck at it. i mean i can do ok, but my reflexes are never better than with a mouse.

I can't game with a touchpad, but I can use it in Garry's Mod if pushed.
For about two years I did this, because I was too lazy with to buy a mouse, but ever since my old laptop shit the bed, I've been using a desktop with a mouse, and my skills may have dwindled. I could play literally any game on it, but FPS games were the easiest.
I've gotten better at playing with a trackpad since the mouse I bought last July sort of pooed out on me and hasn't worked since. Just don't ask me to snipe.
Yeah, I can do it, though I've only played plants vs zombies and portal with it. Portals fairly easy as it's quite a forgiving game when you know what you're doing. P vs Z however is a bit more of a pain, I just can't get around the screen fast enough to match my normal level of skill.
I don't do it. That simple. I suck SO much at it! Actually, I cannot game at all unless I have my Logitech G9 filled with the 7g weights and the rough cover =3.
I've had nothing but laptops for 5 or so years so I've gotten a ton of experience with the touchpad.
