So I have terrible eye sight and have switched over to wearing contacts more often but have noticed a problem. When playing games for long stints my contacts tend to dry out and my eyes get red. Besides setting a timer to remind me to blink, anyone have suggestions for how they deal with this issue?

Umm, lern to blink without a timer? Dunno, I wear glasses, haven't had contacts, so I don't know how good the advice is. Maybe consult with an optician? There may be some eye drops or something to help.

Ya got to blink. When I was young I'd do the same thing during extended gaming sessions, eventually I learned that not blinking is bad and my body started blinking regardless of what it is.

Keep your contact fluid handy, too. Use it as eye drops once in a while.

Barring that, possibly replace your contacts more often or see about trying a different brand. Mine have never really dried out while I play. My eyes get tired, but the contacts have never dried out because of watching the screen. (This is with 15+ years of gaming with contacts.)

You shouldn't wear contacts for extended periods of time (assuming you game over extended periods of time at the end of a day of wearing nothing but contacts). Switch to glasses or keep the contacts hydrated with the fluid thing.

Well last I heard it was advised you use contacts for only limited periods of time to reduce eye irritation/damage.
And any way if you have problems with regular blinking then you really need to pay attention to keep a steady routine of doing so, eventually it turns into muscle memory and you don't have to worry anymore.

don't play games in your contacts. switch to glasses. even if you only wear them to play it's much easier on your eyes. its what i do.

I wear my contacts all day long, taking them out only to shower or sleep. I've never had this problem before(nor have I ever had my contacts dry out on me, even with a fan on my face). The only thing I could say is blink more, or keep some eye drops handy. The contact solution you store your contacts in(still clean inside the bottle it comes from, not inside the contacts storage case) are excellent eye drops if you're having trouble with dryness.

Failing that, then all you can really do is take out your contacts and wear glasses if you plan to game for an extended period of time.
