We've had a lot of gates in the last few decades. Watergate. Quinngate. Gamergate. Stop Gamergate. Baldur's Gate. The Brandenburg Gate. And of course, the kingpin of all Gates...
Have you noticed now every time anybody does anything controversial we call it "gate?" I read on NPR this week about some row between two politicians in Florida who called off a debate, the reason allegedly being one of the candidates had a fan on his podium and the other didn't like that, so they called off the whole thing. Or something like that, he denies it all anyway. But the corresponding tweet that went out about it was #fangate. Dafuq? Is this seriously a thing now?
I have decided that we should call this new trend #gategate. And when that becomes passe, we can up the ante and re-subvert ourselves with #gategategate.
WHO WILL JOIN ME?!!?!?!??!??!

This is not meant to call out gamergate or anti-gamergate, just a general comment on the new trend of giving everything controversial a gate as though we're trying to pen up all the feral sheep in the world. In other words this is a JOKE! Be not offended! Be merry!
