Personally I found the campaign enjoyable but slightly perturbed that they integrated Horde elements into it. BUT THE MULtIPLAYER, so much wrong, no active reloads, evryone gets lethal nades, one main weapon only, no downs, COG VS COG, the list is nigh endless they took all Gears was and threw it out the window to do what vanilla it out to make it more like COD and Halo. I'm sorry to say it but as a fan this is a step backwards in this franchise, the gears 1 digital copy that comes with the game is the better gears game.

....They removed active reloads? Isn't that pretty much an integral part of the game since, well, the first one?

Yeah, its a rather thin experience and the multiplayer part of it misses the point of the previous games entirely, no symetrical maps either wich for me is the worse, the multiplayer of the trilogy felt like a strategy game where position meant a lot to the outcome of the match while in here its more of the typical "wander through the map and kill what appears in front of you" without any kind of tactical thinking before the confrontation started.

I know that a lot of peope throw shit at the Gears series because of the "dude bro" thing that it has going on but the multiplayer is actually quite tactical and in this one that tactical part of it that made it good just isnt there.

While he said active reloads ,that thing of reloading faster by hitting the reload button again with the right timing, those are still there; what isnt there is the perfect active reload where you have that very small window in the reload bar that gives an even faster reload and a temporary damage boost.

They are different things but both are key features of the series.

I assume money grubbing happend, but I'm okay with it as long as there's good story and as josemlopes said the maps do feel like they've been dumbed down alot, the spawning is bad too I can't tell you how many times I,ve spawned literally feet from someone and also how people spawn behind me all the time, also like in all gears game gnasher is king, but here they really made it OP I mean you can run through fire without getting slowed down and super man people with it, like in Gears 1. It's just not worth the money it costs to put it simply the game was a trick and could've simply been a huge dlc pack for Gears 3. Like I said before the campaign is fine, the multiplayer part howevor needs to be killed with fire and remade correctly from the ashes.

I agree with you. There are a lot of things that do not make sense, especially to classic Gears fans. They've either backpeddled or removed things from the multiplayer. My biggest complaint is that you can do action (X) in campaign but not in multiplayer. Examples include (talking mp here):

- Tagging grenades to walls/floor.
- Curb stomps
- Down but not out (unless you're playing Execution)
- Active reloads
- Missing game modes (Warzone? Wingman?)
- Missing characters (no more locust vs cog - all humans)
- Some game modes only have some things (Maps can only be used in certain game modes, only 2 grenades available on Execution, etc.)

ALL of this stuff is in the single player, but not multiplayer. What the hell, Epic?

To end on a positive note, though... standing by itself without being compared to previous versions of Gears, I think it's still a good game and is worth playing. While I miss some of the iconic things from Gears 3 and older, I still think the multiplayer is fun. It's just different, and you can tell different people that had their hand in it.

I still find myself enjoying it because it feels a bit more polished in some other areas.

I will say that the MP isn't complete garbage, I have had some enjoyable moments its just that it doesn't feel like gears like the MP might as well been another game, just a let down is all that they smacked their fanv=base in the face in return to appease the throng of COD masses
