What steam summer sale games did you get on impulse that you ended up really enjoying?

For me I ended up picking up Naruto Shippoden completely on impulse, it wasn't on my wish list or even a game I remembered was on the pc. But, so far I've ended up really enjoying it, its got a great sense of style and they clearly put a lot of work into it, the combat feels a bit clunky at times, but it works for what its trying to be.

Was it Full Burst? (I think it's the only one we have atm lol), I got it about a month ago when it was fairly cheaper than it's asking price, had quite a lot of fun with it and still do and I'm nowhere enar finished with the storyline.

The fighting style however and the not so complicated moveset has me quite interested in the series even though I originally played a PSP Naruto game when I was back in college, I love Mortal Kombat, KOF,Street Fighter and others like BB and Skull Girls but the Naruto ones seem interesting, almost like a Budokai feel to them and I really loved Budokai 3.

Long Live the Queen.
It's a cutesy little anime game where you play as a cutesy little princess in a world where everything's trying to kill you.
I like it for the same reason I like X-com: Namely I know I won't get very far but I love building my skills and seeing how far I can get.

Payday 2 was one of them for me.
Same here. I was curious about it, but I only wanted to play it with friends. Thought a friend got it, ended up not really being the case so I was stuck alone with my copy. But I started playing anyway. And in the end, I spent the majority of today playing it, damn good fun.

Yeah, its quite fun, although online multi is a bag of lag. The single player seems really substantial and has a ton of style to it, plus the story of it is about at the point where I stopped reading the manga so it's interesting to see what happens, despite it being silly..

Sleeping Dogs and Marlow Briggs. The former is better than I expected, the latter is better than it should be.

Astebreed. An awesome mech-piloting shoot-em-up. My friend found it at random for half off. I decided to buy it after squealing in amazement at how it looked on the trailer. BEST purchase of the Steam sale for me. I love this game so freakin much!

from what I read about this game
it's basically Game of Thrones: animu edition

for the heavy emphasis on politics that is (if my knowledge of game of thrones is correct anyways)

I'll third the recommendation for Payday Bag Throwing & Drill Maintenance Simulator 2, I've been having a blast with it so far.

They Bleed Pixels, a fun if very difficult action-platformer with some cthulhu and horror inspirations in its story/aesthetics. I tend to play it in short bursts to avoid getting overly frustrated but man does it feel good to finally ace a section that's been giving me problems.

Broforce stood out for me. At least, among the games I purchased.

Still in early access, but what's there is easily worth the price I paid, and then some.

Was a blast to play with friends. I'm really looking forward to the inclusion of the planned features and content.

Oh god, those bloody drills are terrible.

Where in the hell do they buy those shitty things?

OT: I picked up Betrayer, and I am loving it at the moment.

The art style is pretty interesting, but I decided to go full colour and it looks amazing, the atmosphere can be truly unnerving, and the combat is fun.

Plus it was made by some of the guys that made F.E.A.R, so it has some creepy things in there.

One Finger Death Punch

It was a buck fifty when I got it and I've already spent seven hours on it. It has the the most satisfying combat I've experienced in quite some time.

ONE FINGER DEATH PUNCH!!1!1!!

Can't remember where I'd heard about it, but I picked it up on the last day of the steam sale and it's so much fun. It's just such a dumb, stupid, simple, yet ridiculous entertaining game I can't help but love it.

I'd say it's easily worth the full asking price of five bucks, that I got it for half that is just a bonus. Definitely not the best game I picked up nor will it last me nearly as long, but for a game I grabbed on a whim for pocket change I've got nothing but good to say about it.

I bought The Banner Saga and that game just blew me away. I didn't realize that I could get so connected to essentially still images and text, but the way it tells its story and the characters it develops is just fantastic. Would highly recommend.

I regret not indulging more, but money's been tight lately. I did pick up Gone Home for $2 on one of the daily deals, which was pretty good. Short and a wee bit predictable, but generally quite interesting. I also bought Game Dev Tycoon for my brother and had a bit of a laugh with it.

Oh yeah, and Outlast: Whistleblower. Not as much of an impulse because I'd been holding out on that for a while, but I got what I expected: nerve-racking, frighty fun. The final, for lack of a better word, 'boss' was terrific, by far the creepiest Outlast character, and the build-up to his encounter was very well-done.

Yup. Game of Thrones is brilliant, anime is (for the most part) brilliant, so...
