I am surprised neither of you knew, but more so Cicada5. They've been in production since 2023, if I remember.
I guess I just didn't notice the news. There's so much movie information coming out these days.

Well, I hope it's good.

Technically not "news," just opinion on the Elden Ring movie that I 100% agree with from one of my favorite content creators. It shocked me when he alluded to the Minecraft movie with basically the same sentiments I had recently. But yes, an ER movie should NOT reflect the game experience; the more interesting, adaptable story is in the lore. If this movie is about the tarnished and their unique, singular path to the title of Elden Lord, they will literally have dumped shit on 90% of the game's most interesting content.

(I also love that he floated Jack Black as a choice for ANY involvement in this movie, not as a "good" idea, but just a "typical of Hollywood" idea.)

I'm not even worried. The film will either be good or not. Worse case scenario: You still have the games and all the dlc.

As for Jack Black, he's done more than a few stinkers, but the guy still knows what he's doing, and he did great in the Super Mario Brothers movie. Obviously, that type of energy doesn't always work or only need it for specific things, but he was at least in the problems of the Minecraft movie as far as i'm concerned.

I think they’re already doing it a disservice via the movie format. That’s the quickest way to guarantee the vast majority of the game being missed. By comparison, Vaati has a couple seasons worth of lore videos as it is.

For a movie to work at all they will need to focus deeply on some aspect, rather than try to cover a broad swath of the game in whatever the runtime will be. Even then sequels would be justified.
