Whenever anyone argues with me that gay people are worthless/a disease etc etc, I just point out people like George Takei, or Stephen Fry, people who have done so much and are so well respected.

Then, I call the person I was arguing with... a douchebag.

It isn't. At least, most of the urban youth doesn't give a damn about it. I'd estimate that there are some old timers who despise homosexuality and insecure homophobes here and there, but I imagine those people pretty much exist everywhere.
