In recent light of the England defeat by Germany 4 - 1 earlier today, facebook was alive with insults aimed at Germany, usually on the lines of "God damn Nazi *Insert swear word here*"

Now I have 2 question I'd like to ask

1. To any German residents, do you find this sort of insult offensive, considering it's something that happened around 70 years ago and was more to do with a political party rather then a specific country.

2. Secondly why does Germany get all the prejudice countries like Japan, Italy, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, Finland, Iraq and Thailand were all affiliated with the Nazi party. How is it fair that a single country and its people get blamed for the actions of a few?

1. I'm not from Germany, but I'd imagine that it would be somewhat offensive.

2. Because 99% of the world affiliate Nazis with Hitler, because he was the leader of the party, and since most people think he's German, they instantly gravitate to hating the German part of the Nazis.
That's just what I think.

Answer is, people are idiots, and intolerant retards. Just ignore them, the people posting stuff like that on places like Facebook are idiots and don't deserve to be listened to or taken seriously. You can bet they'd post the same stuff even if us English had won, giving them any quarter and reacting in any way just means they win.

Long story short, they're all trolls.

1) If they haven't learned to shrug it off by now, I'm pretty sure it doesn't bother them to much. So some foreign people are ignorant about what goes on in their country. Big deal. This is a sport and Germany proved to be the better team. Its like a game on Xbox Live, there is always that one guy who can't believe he lost and the only explanation is that the other team cheated.

2) Its mostly because they were the one to start and lead the world into World War 2. While all those countries supported the Axis forces, Germany and Adolf Hitler were the main figure head in the European side of the war.

Irony is, he wasn't even German, he was Austrian. Speaking of which, the entire Second World War could have been avoided if Hitler had made it into a prestigious art school in Vienna, but they thought his work was crap so they rejected him, prompting him to pursue a career in politics instead of art. Weird thing is, if you look up some of his stuff, he was actually a really good artist. That art school must have been pretty damn exclusive to reject Hitler after seeing some of his work...

Then again, Van Gogh was always rejected and his work was dismissed as being a load of crap, and now he's arguably the most respected and successful painter in history... :D

Maybe so, but I bet if you ask the average person they'll say that he was German.

Wasn't he Austrian? I think (not certain, basing this on History classes from around a year ago) that Germany had an empire going Which included Austria, and that that's where Hitler was from.

On topic: 1) I'm not German, but yeah, I'd be pissed off.

2) People are uninformed idiots, and it's a stereotype that the country has yet to rid itself of. It's a sad state of affairs when a whole nation gets insulted for the actions of people who lived 70 years ago, many of whom aren't alive now.

personally, i really hate the ppl who casually affiliate present germany with nazis. the nazis were a group of evil ppl who rules by fear. the rest of germany had no choice but to follow them when they got in, coz if u said anything u would be taken away to a conc. camp. and you never knew who was a spy

but that was so long ago, and its actually illegal to show a swastka in germany, andis punishable by prison. germany is a great country, its just retards who know nothung else apart from the fact that there was once evil nazis in germany, so that must make them all nazis who eat baby jews for breakfast. they should rot in a hole.

ok, rant over lol

and im not even german btw

I'm German, and I couldn't care less about this kind of insult. People who say stuff like that, especially in context of a game that has zip to do with politics, are retarded trolls anyway.

lol, I say, sm1 who actually knows a bit of history. Now all the other countries were just followers and as an old saying goes, it's not the person who buys the product crazy, it's the one that sells it. On the subject of why people offend germans using their history, there is a simple answer. Offends are targeted at something you are not proud of. As of my experiences in Germany, I know that they feel really lousy about it, even if they weren't directly connected to it. It's silly, but then again, people who use Facebook to try and offend a whole nation, are not that bright.

1. I assume that many German people do get offended by it, just look at the way the swastika is banned in Germany to start with, clearly they wont be happy to be called Nazi's

2. The reason people give Germans Nazi hate is because ultimately that is the place people affiliate with the Nazi's. In the end 70 years is not that long a time and people hold grudges for far longer.
