Isn't one releasing this year where you play the Germans?

EDIT: I can't remember the name, but I think it was being developed by a German studio, too.

I do...I think they're the coolest/best army in WW2. I always play as them when the option arises.

Thread title suggests it's about WW2 games developed in Germany, but oh well...

How about Red Orchestra?

Im sure if there was one you would play as the average Soldier. Not all of the German Military was made of Nazi's but once the Nazi's got the government, they got the military.

At the end of the day, you're a guy with a gun shooting other guys with guns. I'm not really fussed by the colour of my hat.

Red Orchestra and Battlefield 1942 are the only two I can think of...
No wait, in the Company of Heroes expasions, you command German forces.
I think if you complete Road to Berlin you get to control German forces as well. But those are RTS's. If you want FPS's, then Red Orchestra and BF 1942 are the only two that come to mind

Pretty much all the multiplayer ones let you play as ze germans. Single player's unlikely to happen as everyone from the German Government to Holocaust survivors would take instant (and justified) offence at something making it fun to be a Nazi or in the Wermracht. It's probably the only game less likely to get published than Six days in Fallujah.

People are too easily offended.
You are not playing a nazi, you are playing a german soldier fighting for hs country.
Most people won't be able to tell the difference.

Because people are stupid. XD

You already can play as the germans in Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts' single-player campaign, during the failed allied "Operation: Market Garden". And they did a good job with it, in my opinion.

Unfortunately when you make this kind of game, you're asking a lot of pretty ignorant people to separate the two, and once Activision or whoever announces a WW2 game where you play as Germans, the next media shitstorm starts, with Fox News interviewing Jack Thompson about the new Concentration Camp simulator.

It's risky to say the least.

EDIT: What I mean by this is that there are a lot of games, but the others are more famous.
I should think and re-read before I post
I would actually enjoy playing as the losers. Even an epic campaign right from the invasion of Poland and up to your character's surrender, escape or tragic demise at the end, in a massive, singleplayer campaign. God that'd be awesome.

The Blitzkreig games do something akin to that, but they're an RTS so it's not as personal or close-up.

There was this one game for the PC I had, and you could play the Russian, British, German and American campaigns, and damn, was it fun!

The German Campaign was good, as you had control over a bunch of Panzers and a Tiger, against an entire British Armoured patrol.

It was called: "Soldiers: Heroes of WWII", and I recommend it, it's a damn fine RTS style game.
