In today's fast, consumer driven world, we zoom past one another. Ignoring our fellow man and obsessing over Samsung's new audio vibratory physio molecular transport device, flailing our limbs erratically as we drown in the whirlpool of chaos.

HOWEVER there are some things that we all need to live, thrive and survive, you, me, them, everybody. That my friends, is the humble sandwich.

I am partial to a chicken, bacon and sweetcorn baguette. With sweet chilli mayo.

So fellow escapists, what is your favourite sandwich. Why do you like it, and is there anything you just can't stand between two slices of bread.

I wouldn't call it my favourite, in no small part because I've never had one and it sounds disgusting, but apparently a bread sandwich (2 slices of buttered bread with a slice of bread in between) gives you the highest nutrition per penny of any meal, according to the Royal Society of Chemists.

Personally, I shall vote up the humble BLT. Followed by the chip butty.

I'm personally partial to chicken and sate. It's good. Also very good is what we call a "Broodje Gezond" (Healthy Sandwich, roughly translated). It's just cheese, ham and some salad stuff. Simple but tasty.

The real question however is, if both your Samsung's new audio vibratory physio molecular transport device and your sandwich were drowning in a whirlpool of chaos, which would you save?

I'd save the physio molecular thingy, it sounds expensive and I'm sure I could trade it to some sucker for at least 5 sandwiches. That's a net-gain of four sandwiches, not to mention that my drowning sandwich would be soaked with chaos and I doubt that tastes good.

Bread + butter + scambled eggs + hot dogs + ketchup + cheese . Nothing beats that .

What i hate between my sandwiches is mayonaise . If you put a hint of mayo is anything i am eating . I . Will . End . Your . Life .

It's a well known fact that you cannot order a sandwich without saying "ummm..." at least once!

But, as for me, butter, cheese, ham and maybe some pickles. That's a cold one. As for a toasty one; well, nothing beats fresh toast, butter, and steak tartare.

I've been craving a Reuben for a while now...

For the uninitiated, a Reuben is made out of...Corned Beef, Swiss Cheese, Thousand Island (or Russian) dressing and, grilled on Rye.

In the morning though (and you can blame this on me living in the US South) I love a Chicken Biscuit, preferably with cheese though I'm fine either way.

As for things I absolutely detest and want NOWHERE near my sandwiches...

Hotdogs must NEVER have Ketchup
Tomatoes, Bell peppers and, Relish must stay the Hell away from ALL of my sandwiches

I thought there would be more to that...

Trying to pick my favourite sandwich is pretty much impossible... although its probably something with a lot of meat in it. And sauce.
As far as least favorite sandwich filling, I'd have to say that mustard and horseradish have absolutely no business being between two slices of bread. Or anywhere else for that matter.

A good sandwich filling needs everything but chilli sauce and pickles is a good quick snack when I'm hungry.

My favourite is Irish whole-wheat soda bread made with buttermilk, cut really thin, a smear of butter, then with smoked salmon or salmon sashimi between.

Simple, and amazingly tasty.

Or if I'm too lazy to cook soda bread (it happens sometimes), then two thickish slices of dense whole-wheat bread from local bakery with fresh mozarella, halved cherry tomatos, butterhead lettuce, and parma ham sliced so thin it is transparent, topped with a drizzle of olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

I am a huge fan of Subway's meatball marinara subs, they're pretty much the tits. Unfortunately they're also pretty expensive, which I forget when I'm drunk an end up wasting all my money on them.

As for things that I can actually make at home, steak sandwiches are the best. With a bit of pepper, garlic and some onions, on some posh bread, served with proper chips. I have no need for your pansy-ass salads.

My absolute favorite is coronation chicken with thick, crispy lettuce (not that leafy crap) in proper-white bread. Not even a good ol' egg and bacon can beat it.

Bread + butter + mayo + mustard + chicken tikka + seekh kebab + baloney + cheese + chopped onions + chopped tomatoes + 5 mins in the sandwich toaster = Awesomeness delight.

Oh yeah, it's tasty and I love it. <.>

I like a good 'ol grilled cheese, cooked to the point where the bread is dark and the cheese is nice and gooey. Has a nice crunch to it, not unlike a good piece of crisp-fried chicken, while not being as unhealthy.

I knew it was a bad idea coming to this thread with an undecided stomach on whether I'm hungry or not...

Congrats, OP; you had me fooled into thinking that this was going to be some sort of sexism thread. Thank god it's not. :-D

I myself like a sandwich with tomatoes, cheese, oregano, basil, pepper, potatoes, and hint of garlic, all toasted and grilled wonderfully. :)

Chicken, lettuce, peppers, onions, garlic mayo and a little bit of barbecue sauce. Tasty as hell. Of course there is the old bacon sandwich with HP sauce but that goes without saying.
