It's the other way around for me now. After Brawl was released I was mostly disappointed in the industry, everything felt similar or heavily flawed in one way or another, and I still feel like it mostly sucked.

However, after 2013 or 14, I noticed the indie scene actually started bringing back what I missed about classic games (including just being retro in general) and now there is a whole heap of shit I want. It's not as great as the 90's and early 2000's still, but I feel like there is a lot of opportunity for amazing things to happen. I'm back into gaming like I was back when I was young, and I'm excited to see what surprises are coming next, because Undertale and INSIDE were definitely something special.

Jesus dude, 300 hours in a couple of days? I spent 80 hours on Ni no Kuni across 4 months (with a 3 week vacation in the middle). Give it a rest, savor the games, read a book or watch a show in between. What's with the urgency? Don't you work/study?

I must admit I did a double take there, it looks like he worded it more as he either does a 200-300 hour playthrough of a game, or if its a shorter game he plays it for a couple of days in a row to finish it. Not that he puts down 200-300 hours in a couple of days haha, I would've otherwise highly recommended he get to the hospital now as that's beyond unhealthy. And give me his time machine as that takes more than just a 'couple' of days to achieve.

Your post quite resume my "problem" I have the same kind of feel toward most thing I do in general, I have trouble finding interesting new movies, besides few selection. funny thing is I don't play that much "now", I juggle with, watching youtube, movie or tv shows, lurking in forums and what not.
I guess it the computer in general I have to leave :p
One final thing to think about from someone who has been in similar situations before, and is presently as well; What is your life outside the computer like?

Not something you need to answer here, but something to ask yourself. If life outside the computer isn't satisfying you, or there are things wrong there, you'll lose a lot of drive, motivation and interest in... well, everything, including the stuff on the computer. More to the point than your life outside the computer, its your life in general, but you've already described how it is on the computer. When you're not satisfied with your life, and you feel stuck, or unhappy, or poorly motivated, or uninterested - that filters through. If you feel depressed in general, you're not going to find things like gaming or youtube videos, or anything really, enjoyable.
Do note, there is a difference between being/feeling depressed, and having clinical depression. Everyone has a bad day/week/month/time period every once in a while. Clinical depression involves actual brain chemistry differences that make these states much more common, and often, longer lasting, and sometimes worse than they may otherwise be.

So, finding something important that excites you in real life, will probably help your interest in computer life as well - and vice versa. I've had it happen both ways. Getting out and doing a bunch of things IRL that were good for me, but that I always put off because I didn't really enjoy them, and I felt demotivated, made me play games more because I started feeling better. During some of my worst times with life really getting me down, there have been TV shows or games that I've gotten really into, and its given me the motivation to move through with life again.

Of course it doesn't have to be feeling really bad or unhappy, but if you're lacking interest and motivation in things in general, both on and off the computer, its probably something like this - and if there's nothing on the computer holding your attention, it might be time to find some things you know you should do off the computer, and get active in doing them for a while. Find something exciting, enjoyable, and motivating in life, and do lots of it. You'll start to feel motivated to do other things as well.

Of course if the rest of your life is great, and you're engaged and happy off the computer, its just things on the computer you're not enjoying - yeah, you're probably just burned out. Take a break, and read a book series or something similar, then come back. After a while away you might find a few changes you're interested in experiencing.

I've been struggling to get into games, too. Not because I don't want to, or because im bored, but because Im just struggling to get enough time together to really commit to anything. I'd love to sink my teeth into the Witcher 3, and commit to a 100+ hour experience, but im juggling a full time job with wonky hours, a long distance relationship, and the fact that I live in a completely different county to all of my friends and family, so all I ever really have time for is the odd game of Hearthstone. Well worth having that ?1300 computer for that.

Hello, I was wondering if gaming was my thing anymore, because no matter what, I look at the games and feel like that most of the time I play game and often get bored of it quite quick or just get uninterested, very very few name has gotten my attention and which I played them, althought most of the time its impulsive and finish them in less than few days in a row or compulsively do like 200-300 hours (depending of the type of the game). Now I look at the future and I am quite scared, nothing seem to even get my attention, not for the next year anyway, some may slightly interest me, but for that 15-20 hours they may have. I also did buy recklessly buy a console becuase I wanted more games, and did the same thing, played all the few game I had for like 5-6 hours each then became "bleh"
I guess I have to slow down gaming and just look at sometimes else.
What you view on your own gaming habit? what are you looking for in the future?
This isn't anything new or unique for you. We all have droughts like this, where nothing being published looks interesting, and doesn't hold our interest. Now while I've never gone cold turkey when it comes to video games, I have gone through phases where certain types of games fell out of favor. For example, I've been on about a 10+ year diet off of MMORPGs. I just can't give a shit about them really. I might load up a FTP one, like Old Republic for a month or 2, try out some of the new content, and then uninstall for another year or so. But mostly, I just don't play them anymore. Maybe I just play 1 or 2 games for a while, like Smite, or Payday 2 (which are my current main rotation). Or, like about a year ago, I went on a major stealth game kick. I reinstalled all of my favorite sneaker games, and just enjoyed living in the shadows again.

This happens. The fact that you don't find anything interesting in the upcoming lineup of release titles is totally natural, so I wouldn't worry about it. Try out some other hobby, or catch up on something else you enjoy, that you haven't been putting as many hours into. Go to more movies or something. Hit up some musical events in your area that interest you. That kind of stuff. If you get into a deep mood to play more games, you will know.
