If you sent the money for it to a friend, is it illigal for said friend outside Australia to buy you the games you can't get there and mail it to you? Does that count as mailing illigal goods to a country it is outlawed, like drugs or something?

Yazthee being so popular and well-known, I theorize that someone (most likely a friend... if he has any...) just lent him a copy over mail or some other similar method. Although that's just speculation, so I really wouldn't know...

The PS3 has no region coding.

Although, I can see how importing it could cause trouble for you...

It would TECHNICALLY count as smuggling an illegal substance.

You could get some serious jailtime for it.

He said in his interview that GTR was closed, I'm afraid. Nevetheless, I'm sure whoever it is that wants him to review things and makes videos said "Don't worry, Yahtzee. We've got this covered.", and handled it. You know, in the line of duty and all.

You can import. Theoretically if caught at customs you could get in trouble, and there are some stories around of people who say their game was destroyed and they got a caution letter. Nothing I could confirm first hand.

Champ Chong (look him up in youtube) suggests that if you're really paranoid, have a friend overseas put the game into the case of another permitted game.

Actually, it was never shipped to Australia. He had someone live stream a video to him while told them which controls to press.
