So guys, i'm currently enrolled in a 2 year occupational health and safety program and will be graduating from the school in april, followed by a 2 month work term. I have been doing very well in all my courses so far and have greatly enjoyed it but i'm getting a little worried. Anyone ever feel they're more school smart than real world smart? Like i fear i'll have trouble applying what i learned in school in my job or may not have a clue what to do. Anyone have any advice for how to deal with this?

Health and Safety is already applied by definition so it's not just school-smarts you're learning.

Relax.

You've probably got those school smarts because you've had to accomplish things in a school environment for so long. Pretty soon you'll get used to accomplishing things in the real world, and you'll build up those "street smarts."

"Smart" is an adjective, not a noun, damn it guys!

...sorry.

Yeah, the world of academia can feel like a bubble sometimes. Try to keep in touch with the real world. Part-time work or placements/internships during your holidays are a good idea.
