It'll happen, but I don't know really to what effect. Sure, we should have the right to R18+ games, but are games with that kind of content really that neccessary? Not too sure about that myself. But me being the hypocrite I am, I probably do play my fair share of dumbed down games.

Doesn't matter, point is, it'll happen. It's just a matter of time.

I think it would be good. Is there any kind of law that prevents even just importing those kinds of games? I'm not familiar with how that kind of thing goes there.

I dont really mind.
Its not like theres a certain website where you can legitimately buy them, since its only illegal to buy/sell them, but not to possess them...

Nope, nothing against importing 18+ games from overseas. As long as shops over here don't sell games after they get rated and banned, the law isn't being broken.

Edit: To answer the original question, I suppose it'd be good as censorship in general is bad. However, there are far more pressing issues to deal with in life than whether or not a couple games get edited, so it's not like it is a hugely important issue to me.

It's illegal to import materials rated RC. So, any game that has been rejected by the classification board cannot be legally imported.

We definitely need it. We are adults and shouldn't need to be told that something isn't suitable for us without making the decision ourselves. Banning doesn't stop us having the games, only delays it.

Eh, shows how much attention I pay to laws that you never hear about being enforced over here. What's the punishment for that in our retarded court system, anyways? The judge raises his voice at you and says you're a bad person? Or maybe life in prison? I mean, you can get almost no time at all for killing someone here, so harsh court sentences have to be handed out to someone, right?

For some reason the principle doesn't matter.

(Pretty sure that)
Depending on how much money it is you steal, you can get more time than someone who intentionally committed murder if they did it a 'nice' way and show remorse. I can give money back. Its not gone when I spend it. A life is gone forever. Please explain.
Can't remember, probably a fine and an angry look. We save the serious punishments for tax cheats.

To be fair, tax cheats are some of the biggest jerks in the entire world. The vast majority of them are high income earners. Even poor people that can barely afford to pay tax do, why can't you?

I'm not one to reply promptly advocate sympathy for those greedy bastards, but I just can't bring myself to hate them in that same, special way I hate rapists/murderers/wifebeaters/child molesters etc. They most certainly are some of the biggest assholes going, and their punishments are probably fair, so surely we should use them as a benchmark for the people who commit worse crimes.

False. Customs are required to confiscate imported games that have been refused classification in Australia. Many games slip through, but there is a law against importing restricted material. Usually the game is just confiscated, as long as you're not importing multiple copies (which you would clearly intend to resell), but repeated offenses can incur a fine.

What seems to be happening now is that games that should be an 18 are getting through as 15s without any cuts anyway - Dead Rising 2 for example.

If that continues I'm sure plenty of people my age wouldn't have a problem with there being no 18 rating.

Even so, of course their should be one.
