I know this isn't exactly a popular genre of music around these parts, but to hell with it, I'm really starting to get into the genre.

90% of it is tripe, but that 10% that is good? It's worth wading through the shit for.

Thankfully, I have you fine people to do the shit wading for me, to help advise me on the topic.

I saw the trailer for Syndicate and I just couldn't get over how much I like the track for it.

I know it's by a guy called Skrillex, but I'd like to hear what you guys suggest.

Also, because I love poking fun at things I like, I believe this comic is obligatory.

The only dubstep i've bothered to listen to at all since learning about it's existence is by Sudanim and I must say, I enjoy their stuff a good bit. I don't know crap about dubstep, but this is some good wub wub wub right here.

I like what I like :D

15 year old me would have spat in disgust at the very idea, while secretly loving it.

24 year old me? I don't give a toss what other people think of my musical taste.

I know this isn't dubstep, but I really love this kind of music, fast paced, uplifting, something that makes me feel invincible.

Wait, what kind of British food is dubstep?
It's a derivative of grubstep.

Some say grubstep is tastier, but I prefer dubstep.

Skrillex is good, not real dubstep though more progressive house/glitchstep. For some dirty heavy dubstep check out stuff like this:
For more mellow true dubstep this might take your fancy:

Watching this topic with interest. I also recently started liking a few Skrillex tracks, and want to delve more into this genre, but most of what I have heard has been shit. So here's to hoping this thread shows me the gold.

Submotion Orchestra and Zomboy. Neither could really be considered true Dubstep. Submotion is more like Nu Jazz that incorporates Dubstep.

That's why I don't use Youtube to look for new Dubstep songs. I explore on Beatport.

That's how I came into the genre. The vast majority of dubstep I cam across was utter crap. But now and then comes along a track of true greatness.

Well, I don't mean to be a purist, but Skrillex isn't dubsetp, it's actually an off shoot called Brostep. It's typically characterised by the more aggressive style and more metallic sound to the music.

Some dubstep i'm really into at the moment is by a guy called Blackmill. He's British and mixes dubstep with chillout, and ends up with something that really isn't fertiliser. Here is a video of one of his best songs.

Also, Brostep totally dumps all of it's UK Garage roots, and has more enthusiast on the Dub part, of Dubstep.

You could say Brostep is just Speed Dub, or Progressive Dub than anything.

That is great! Thank you! I love the whole 'chillstep' thing at the moment... I have all the Phaeleh, Burial, Distance, Kryptic Minds, Psysex stuff etc, and am building a collection! Chillout, but gritty, and darker...! Gotta be admired!

I would suggest checking out Monstercatmedia, they have a collection of various artists and they are covering a lot of electronic music (dubstep, drum 'n' bass, electro etc.). And it is quite simple to wade through, as they sort it by colour. I went to UKF once, and it was pretty much a swamp...
