This is going to seem really strange.

But I've been looking for a film for ages. I read a review on it a while ago (like literally years)

I can't remember the name though...

It was a Scandinavian film. English Language if I remember rightly. It was about a small town somewhere and a young girl who gets caught masturbating over someone in her high school (if I remember it was someone unappealing) and the ostracism that came with it. It dealt with sexuality in people as a major theme.

Could any of you lovely people have a go at guessing it for me?

The only one I could find is the Norweigian film called Turn me on, Damnit!, which is not a film I have seen, but it does quite possibly have the best name for a film ever.

It meets most of the criteria anyway:

Teenage girl in a small town.
Caught masturbating.
Ostracised.
Scandinavian.

Although from the description it seems to be more down to the fact that she does it a lot.

This quote made me laugh especially, just because of the way it is written:

At home, Alma's single mother is overwhelmed and embarrassed by her daughter's extravagant phone sex bills and wears earplugs to muffle Alma's round-the-clock acts of self-gratification.

If this isn't the film I apologise, but I haven't heard of it before. I'd help look more, but I don't think many people would believe me if I told them that I was searching "Scandinavian teen caught masturbating" for entirely innocent purposes.

Sounds like something Lars Von Trier would direct, you could try looking at his works or anything from the Dogme movement.
