Hey everyone! I'm Andrew, I come from the tiny island of Malta, and this is my first post. Well, I've been seeing all of the series here (Zero Punctuation and Unskippable are my favourites) and I've decided to try and join the bandwagon. My friend really wants to start producing a series and posting it online, and I've volunteered to help him. Problem is, we don't know how to start off! Could anyone give me a hand regarding what camera, lighting, software, etc. hints I might need? He wants to film on a white background, and I have a JVC Everio HDD camera.
Thanks!

Software called Vegas Movie Studio 9.0 is great in my opinion. It allows you to do all the advanced stuff you'll ever need in a VERY easy-to-use setting. Plenty of guides on how to use it on the internet too^^.

Good luck to you and your friend!

Whoah, thanks for such a rapid reply!
Be sure to acquaint yourself with the quoting system. In the future it may help other to see whose post you referencing when you want to reply.

Don't hit "reply", that only sends you to the bottom of the page so you can post, "quote" does the same thing but has a BBCode entry that references the desired post.

Quoting also sends message to the person(s) you have quoted (unless they switched it off). Switching off your quote notification eliminates those sometimes pesky messages you might be getting every few minutes. However having it on and being able to read others' reactions to your post is a good way to gauge how others view you and if you need to change your habits.

My advice would be to make damn sure your script is good before you even start on the technical decisions. We can be a picky bunch around here, and not wildly accepting of shows that don't make us chuckle. Game Dogs took (takes? I haven't seen anyone reference it for a while) a lot of shit for being unfunny, as did a couple of others, like that D&D thing with the strippers (I can't watch Escapist videos at work or on my Blackberry, so I'm a few months behind).

Basically, it doesnt matter how good it looks, if the script is sub-par people will tear it a new one. That being said, good luck!
