Oh look! Eldar Howling Banshees!

I'll be posting more stuff to show off when it's painted.
Nice work, the new banshees certainly look dynamic in a way most of the old ones didn't, their arms are modelled at much better angles as well, the old ones looked like their joints would be at really uncomfortable angles and useless for getting a good swing in. Onlky thing I don't like about the new ones is I think their heads look too big.

Very simply coloured, not much shading or highlight. Have one left that is 1/2 way through painting.

Um...yah...intersting colourscheme you put on your banshees there scum...the hawk is basic although a nice colourscheme and the avatar is crap.

I'm currently alternating between finishing a vintage Marauder black orc, a vintage marauder ork boy and a vintage Banshee, so I'll be posting her soon as I've finished (and my mem card is fixed) to see if I've got any better, or at least a bit more patient.

I have a couple of models I'd like to post but my camera's memory card got fried somehow yesterday so I'll have to wait til I got a new one or re formatted it or something.

Nice banshees Lab.

Instead of continuing my Tau, I'm going to start up an Ork army. I can't keep paying $20 per Crisis suit :x I need like 15 for my proposed Farsight army. I think I'll slowly build it up over time...a suit here, a suit there.

Once I pick up my first set of boys, I'll post 'em up.

Right. Here's a couple not painted by me. I bought 'em off e-bay and since they have plastic bits I can't strip them with Carb cleaner so I'll just post them as they are since whoever painted them did an acceptable job.

Some of the old all metal guard models were a bit crap, but the plastic ones and the ones with metal bodies and plastic arms were alright. I'm trying to pick up a squad worth, that's the way I'm usually working now, get 5-10 of each model type that I like.

I love the old Gothic battleships, I so wish they'd updated them and made new ones the size of BFG battleships.

Oh man. That Eldar battleship is the tits.

What'd that set you back?
Eldar?!? That's an old 'Gothic' Battleship, the mainstay of the Imperial Fleet. I can sort of see why you thought that though, the striations on the side do look a bit like the way they model wraithbone and the overall shape is fairly reminiscent of one of the old eldar ships going backwards.
That one cost me about £5, it's only plastic but that's a good price considering how rare they are. I have a metal one I haven't got round to painting yet that cost me £19 (posted on my 1st post on this page). Awesome looking ships.

Okay, so I'm feeling a bit silly. That's what happens when you post at 3am, drunk as the worm in the bottom of the tequila.

Now that I'm more sober, I can see why I mis-took it for Eldar. It's got the same sort of lines and overall feel.

But yea. Just replace the word "Eldar" with "Gothic" and we'll pretend that didn't happen. :x

More:

As usual, having a look at him in close up with the camera I can see a few bits that I missed with the naked eye...I also think I need to give the boots another dark wash as I went a bit overboard on the highlights.

EDIT: PS, there must be someone else on this forum with some mini's to post (any will do, don't have to be citadel, could be model planes for all I care). This thread is starting to look like a PM session between Moonpenguin and myself. I'm going to have to start pestering all the people who've said they'll post but haven't.

MOAR!

I know it's very similar to the other one but I want a uniform looking fleet and the grey hull with a red prow is simple but looks good.

PS, if I'm the next one to post a finished mini everyone who's said they'll post but hasn't is getting bombarded with requests to post something :p

Ok, I'll admit he's not exactly 100% finished, so you're safe for the moment, I'm just posting before the thread drops off the bottom of page 20. I will replace with a pic of a finished model ASAP

Hey, painter guys. A noob has a question.

I got an Ironclad Dreadnought recently, and was wondering if you guys have advice on how to paint this thing. I could easily paint it in solid, 'pristine' condition, but I have no idea how to get that 'battlefield damage' look. Online guides do not help.

Also, I have no intent on using it for play, just for show. Any crazy ideas?

Maybe when it's not 3 in the morning where I am, it's real late, I only stayed up to get my guard in a semi presentable state. I'll have a think tomorrow.

Right then.
IDK what an 'Ironclad' dreadnought is specifically, but I think drybrushing with mud colours around the legs to simulate dirt and whatnot, drybrush with blacks or dark greys around exhausts. Paint tiny little bits of boltgun metal or chainmail onto the armour plates to look like scratches in the armour. I found that a wash of orange or chestnut ink worked well for rust, although GW don't make either of those anymore. Also, if you're feeling brave a soldering iron tip can be used to make shell/bullet damage, but if you get it wrong it aint gonna be pretty...

Also:

I'm sure you can all see the huge difference...
GW transfers are crap, why cant they make stickers to go on rounded surfaces eh? EH?!?
I should also get into the habit of dealing with mould lines properly before painting, even if it means taking them off the sprue, it looks much better when it's finished.

I started re-painting my Jetbike. Here's the work so far, and far indeed from finish. It's an experiment to see if this is what I want to do across the squad of Shining Spears I'm getting.

Your voxcaster is pretty sweet. Well done.
Thanks, I'm getting to the point where I am pretty confident with the fabric parts of the uniform and also faces etc using an ogryn flesh wash, which is a new technique for me. I used to build up from a dark mix of orange ink and bleached bone which looked good but was very time consuming and wasted a lot of paint. Now I just use a humbrol flesh colour, ogryn flesh wash and then highlight with the humbrol mixed with white.

Thanks a lot for posting. I like the custom 'Hells Eldar' paint job it's lovely freehand work. That's where I fall down, I really don't have the patience for that, since I don't have much natural skill at painting free hand I have to take ages to make sure it's done right. I don't remember shining spears, aren't they fantasy elves or am I getting mixed up?

Thanks a lot for posting, this thread needs more posters to make it a success. PAINT! This thread needs you! I like the knights on the top right, nice colour scheme, specially their lances.

Also:

I did want to cover his armour in a red wash to make it look khornetastic but Baal red sucks, it's more like Baal pink. I'll have to experiment with mixing boltgun metal with red or something similar 'cause I have a load of vintage chaos warriors I want to paint.

Damn, I like that name. In fact I think I'm going to run with it and make the Exarch a custom leather jacket too. Custom painting like that, using the tiny TINY brush I have for it, is not unlike drawing in pen when you have to pick the colour every other stroke. As for the patience.. mine often surprises people. These [http://www.wargamestore.com/images/T/eldar-shining-spears.jpg] are 40k Shining Spears.

Sick of how expensive Tau were to collect and build effectively, I found someone that wanted to trade. Picked up around 80 boys, a battlewagon (that needs to be finished), 2 warbosses, 3 deffcoptas, 16 or so nobs, and a pair of grots. I'm pretty happy with the trade. :)

I can't wait to get the army up and running. Until I can get the nobs painted up (my first goal with this army), here is an army shot. Once I knock out the nobs, I'll probably move on to the battlewagon, followed by the other deffcopta, and finally the boys will get assembly-line paint-jobs. I have a feeling I'm going to be sick of green by the time this is over and done with!

I'm also pretty sure I can turn that penguin trashcan into a stompa....but that's a project for down the road.

Well here are a few of mine that I am willing to post. These are at least 2 years old as I haven't painted any since then. But after looking at them and taking pics to post here, I really wanna start again. Maybe in the summer...

Anyway... Here are my Lord of The Rings Miniature's... (Made by Games Workshop)
[small]Sorry but the pics are very big[/small]
And My favourite, as not only did I paint him, I actually put him together from two different goblin miniatures

Here's a few of the things I'm working on for a Chaos Marine army..

Nurgle Daemon Prince (The white parts glow in the dark, pipe-things have been replaced with wings)

Plague Marine Squad 1 (Some fine details still unfinished, like the eyes)
