Here I go asking for game suggestions again... Last time it was tank combat, this time it's arcade space combat.
By "arcade space combat", I do basically more or less mean something like the old Star Wars: Rogue Squadron games from back in the day. You know, back when Nintendo were actually worth a crap. First and foremost, it's not truly "six degrees of freedom" in the maneuvering, like Descent or the like; you're constantly moving forward, just steering your fighter to get a shot on the enemy.
Second is that it's not a restricted rail shooter i.e. Star Fox. I want full freedom to fly about as I please and blow stuff up.
Third is the option to use a simplified control scheme, instead of the "roll then pitch" style of a simulator. Basically, whichever way you point the stick, that's the direction the fighter steers in, with the game automatically doing the hard maneuvers for you.
Is there anything out there like this?
